Tradition states that when Adam was created, he was told that his title in the world would be “the father of humanity,” but that his title in paradise would be Abū Muhammad (the father of Muhammad). When asked why he was given this title, he was told that Muhammad was the pinnacle of creation: “Had it not been for him, I would not have created you, nor created any heavens or earths.”
