Welcome back to Canada, President @BarackObama.
Thank you for joining us in Toronto for important conversations on how we can build a better and more just future â and empower more people to build with us.
Itâs going to be a great time to be in the trades.
Â
Weâre launching the new Team Canada Strong â a nationwide program to recruit, train, and hire up to 100,000 Red Seal workers who will help build the new homes, railways, and ports that will build Canada strong.
Our agreement with the City of Ottawa is the first of its kind â and weâre not slowing down.
Â
Weâre going to partner with municipalities across Canada to build thousands more homes.
Nous venons en aide aux Canadiennes et aux Canadiens en leur offrant un coup de pouce aujourdâhui et en leur donnant les moyens dâaller de lâavant.
Every Canadian deserves a home they can afford. Today, we moved closer to making that a reality for families in Ottawa.
Through Build Canada Homes, weâre helping build 8 new affordable housing projects - exceeding our target for affordable homes in Ottawa by nearly 10%. Of these, the majority will be beginning construction before the end of the year.
This is how you build more affordable homes at speed and scale across the country.
Today, Build Canada Homes and the City of Ottawa #ON announced eight affordable housing projects that are advancing across the city, totalling over 1,100 rental units.
Strong communities are built on resilient infrastructure.
Through the Build Communities Strong Fund, weâre investing in the foundations that matter most - housing-enabling infrastructure, hospitals, recreation centres, colleges and universities, bridges that keep goods moving, and the water and transit systems our communities rely on every day. This week, 13 projects are underway across the country.
Weâre not just building for today - weâre building for the future.
Today in Brampton, Prime Minister Carney launched the Build Communities Strong Fund and announced its first project â the Embleton Community Centre and Park â the first in a series that will deliver infrastructure to build connected communities. Details: https://t.co/Srnj532Ayw
Weâre building the local infrastructure you rely on every day, faster.
Weâve just launched the Build Communities Strong Fund to speed up the construction of new recreation centres, colleges and training centres, hospitals, and water and transit systems across Canada.
FCM welcomes todayâs launch of the federal governmentâs Build Communities Strong Fund.
Municipal infrastructure is the backbone of the Canadian economy. Across the country, municipalities are using federal infrastructure funding to get infrastructure projects moving this construction season. With the Direct Delivery Stream, we can accelerate projects and deliver the housing and infrastructure Canadians needâfaster.
The Community Stream remains the bedrock of federal infrastructure fundingâproven, reliable and scalable. We look forward to working with the federal government on a national infrastructure plan that matches the pace and scale of our shared ambitions on housing, trade diversification and economic growthâand dedicated funding for rural and northern communities.

James Moore on Canada-Ontario housing partnership: "This is good public policy, just flat out ... I think the package that's been put on the table and announced today by Olivia Chow, by Prime Minister Carney, by Premier Ford collectively is very good public policy."
