A 58-year-old man has been charged with a public order act offence. He was arrested on the Strand for holding a placard which had a photo of a police officer on it and caused harassment, alarm or distress.

A violent shoplifter who attacked staff with a saw has been jailed for 13 years.
Officers were on scene within two minutes after reports of a stabbing at a retail park.
This legislation helps protect both members of the public and emergency service workers from sex-based harassment, including wolf whistling, sexual verbal abuse and intimidation. It applies equally to male and female victims of harassment.
Those convicted face up to two years in prison.
