So this is an important story that’s finally told comprehensively.
So many highlights:
1. Invisibilized narratives in Kenya are gendered…it is women’s role that’s almost always undertold. It’s a generational and cultural challenge. And Catherine says severally “these stories aren’t told”…and much can be said about the iceberg to that statement.
2. The market is not gone; now, more than ever the market is ready for alternatives…

Anyway, here goes the story:
In 1999, Julius Sunkuli, then Kenya's Minister of Internal Security, faced serious allegations of raping two schoolgirls, including a 14-year-old named Florence.
Florence claimed that Sunkuli offered her money for an abortion, but she chose to keep the baby. Catholic priest Father John Anthony Kaiser assisted the girls in seeking legal support through the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA-Kenya).
Despite the evidence presented, Sunkuli was never charged. In 2000, Florence withdrew her complaint, and the case was dismissed.
Shortly before this, Father Kaiser was found dead under suspicious circumstances, officially ruled a suicide, though many suspected foul play due to his activism against government abuses . Sunkuli denied any involvement in Kaiser's death and was later cleared by a public inquest.
After a period away from politics, he returned to public office in 2022 as the Member of Parliament for Kilgoris Constituency.

I’ve learned so many things on social media and one of them is cyber bullying. It is immoral. However, saying hi to someone on email “hoping the email finds them well” is not bad.
