Breaking: The Igbo Community Association in the Federal Capital Territory (ICA) calls for the release of MAZI NNAMDI KANU, emphasizing the need for “dialogue & political solution”. Its President-General, Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe spoke to @ARISEtv.
If we jail Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, we will tell politicians in Igbo land to start begging us to forgive him and offer him amnesty. They will tell us we did it for Boko Haram, and it can be an injustice not to do it for Nnamdi Kanu.
We will pay some influencers on social media to speak about the injustice against Ndị Igbo and why Mazi Nnamdi Kanu should be given amnesty. Within days and months, it will circulate. Even gullible people will believe in us and start shouting about amnesty for Mazi Nnamdi.
With it, he will be at our mercy. We will give him amnesty with conditions and the call for Biafra will die a natural death.

#IWD2025 is about skipping the 'talking' to #AccelerateAction2025
International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as individuals, charities, and groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality.
Imagine an egalitarian world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
International Women's Day (IWD) has been around for over a hundred years, as have many of the issues still impacting women's advancement.
Since 1911, IWD belongs to all who care about women's equality, celebrate women's achievement, raise awareness about discrimination and take action to forge gender parity. Gender parity is far reached in this generation and its near success could be in the next 7 generations. But we will continue to #Preserve our gender.
Focusing on the need to #AccelerateAction emphasizes the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in 'personal' and 'professional' spheres.
All #IWD activity is valid, that's what makes IWD so inclusive. So together, we can forge gender equality.
Collectively for #IWD2025, we can all #AccelerateAction2025.

A human rights lawyer, Christopher Chidera, has tackled the Nigerian government over an alleged plan to start the prosecution of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, afresh (de novo).
He said any attempt to prosecute the IPOB leader under the Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act 2013 is legally untenable, procedurally flawed, and morally bankrupt.
The lawyer called on Tinubu’s government to swiftly initiate peaceful negotiations for a peaceful resolution before midnight on Thursday, 20 March 2025, or face the consequences of exposing high-profile corruption, system failure, and injustice in the Nigerian justice system.
In a statement made available to journalists at the weekend in Abuja, he noted that Nnamdi Kanu’s case stands as a glaring testament to the fragility of Nigeria’s legal and judicial framework when confronted with the unyielding pursuit of justice and self-determination.
The statement pointed out that the section of the Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act 2013, which the prosecution relied on, is no longer a written law in force in Nigeria.
The lawyer added that an attempt to proceed under a repealed statute is tantamount to defying the ancient doctrine of stare decisis, which anchors the certainty and cohesion of justice in common law jurisdictions.
“Nigeria’s courts lack the substantive jurisdiction to try Kanu under a legal relic, and any attempt to do so constitutes a direct assault on his constitutional rights to a fair hearing and protection from retroactive punishment.
“The prosecution’s feeble reliance on Section 98(3) of the TPPA 2022—claiming continuity of proceedings—collapses under scrutiny. A de novo trial is a fresh proceeding, not an extension of a defunct case.
“The government’s legal acrobatics cannot mask this fundamental truth: the procedural jurisdiction to prosecute Kanu under the 2013 Act evaporated with its repeal. To persist is to invite ridicule and condemnation from both Nigerian citizens and the international community.
“Reports that Mazi Kanu will assume his own defense on 21 March 2025 herald a seismic shift in this saga. Having already forced the recusal of the formidable Justice Binta Nyako—despite institutional resistance—and secured the intervention of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kanu has demonstrated his capacity to confront what he rightly or wrongly perceives as a biased judicial establishment.
“Should he represent himself, the prosecution will face a formidable adversary armed not only with legal acumen but with the moral weight of a cause that resonates with millions.
“The twists and turns: Kanu’s self-representation will ignite legal fireworks, exposing the dirty underbelly of Nigeria’s judiciary—its inconsistencies, its biases, and its susceptibility to political manipulation. The government’s ability to control the narrative will crumble as Kanu commands the courtroom and the court of public opinion.

“This is no ordinary case. It is the most consequential in Nigeria’s history, a crucible in which the judiciary’s credibility will be tested under unprecedented global scrutiny. Ordinary Nigerians, captivated by this drama, await the unraveling of legal arguments and the revelation of which laws the prosecution will twist to sustain its faltering case. Yet, the truth is inescapable: Nigeria cannot win. Convicting Kanu is a legal impossibility and a political miscalculation of historic proportions. His detention, his suffering, and his endurance for the Biafran cause have galvanised a movement that cannot be criminalised or intimidated into silence."

In court today, my husband, Onyendu Mazi #NnamdiKanu, accepted the need for Chief Kanu Agabi SAN, the new Lead Counsel to address the court of Justice James Omotosho on what transpired at Binta Nyako's court, that shook the foundations of the Nigerian judiciary. This clarifications were duly delivered by Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN—a towering figure, twice Attorney-General, twice Minister of Justice, and a former Senator. Chief Agabi, stepping into Onyendu's brief, acted to smooth the ruffled feathers in some segments of the bar and bench, caused by his legitimate, anger-fueled outbursts against Justice Binta Nyako’s court that led to her recusal.
Chief Kanu Agabi's stature demanded it; he couldn’t represent Onyendu without restoring decorum acceptable to the Abuja bench in particular and the judiciary in general. Remarkably, Justice James Omotosho presiding, also apologized to Onyendu for the prolonged delay and mishandling of his trial over the years, acknowledging his ordeal at the hands of the Federal High Court Abuja.
Chief Agabi’s move was strategic, balancing Onyendu's fury with the court’s dignity. I suggest we read the full text of the statement before commenting. Chief Agabi spoke in his own personal capacity and his vision for an amicable resolution (dialogue) and peaceful co-existence. It is not rocket science.

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has asserted that no court of law can truly resolve the case of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He argued that regardless of any legal verdict, Kanu remains a political prisoner and his fate is ultimately tied to political decisions rather than judicial rulings.
He stated that political interests, including those from Kanu’s own region, have played a role in keeping him in detention. He recounted his involvement in discussions for Kanu’s release in 2023, revealing that some stakeholders from Imo State opposed his release before the election, fearing it would affect their political standing. He further stated that even after the election, the pressure to keep Kanu detained has persisted, underscoring the political nature of his imprisonment.
There's nobody, no court of law that can resolve Nnamdi Kanu's matters. Even if he's found guilty by their own standard, it's still going to be political... he's a political prisoner forever. Some people have also said that there are also some interests, political interests, even from his region, who do not want him to be free. We know that because I was earlier in, I think 2023, I was part of some conversation to release him, and what came straight was from Imo State that he can't be released before the election in Imo State, that he will affect them. And after that, everybody kept coming and said, 'Don't release him, don't release him.' And here we are."

The Truth, The Whole Truth & Nothing But The Truth, About IPOB and Nigeria’s Proscription
March 27, 2025
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) founded by my husband, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in 2012, same year it was registered as a legal entity in the United Kingdom, has been branded a terrorist organization by the Nigerian government since 2017, but the facts tell a different story—one of judicial overreach, fabricated narratives, and a calculated campaign to silence a movement. Here’s what the public needs to know:
https://t.co/1O6lr782qt Clashes, Only Assaults: The government claims IPOB clashed with security forces on or around 10 October 2017, justifying its proscription. Yet, no evidence of armed conflict exists before September 10-15, 2017, when the military raided our ancestral home in Isiama Afaraukwu during their Operation Python Dance II. That unprovoked assault killed 28 unarmed visitors to our home and drove my husband into hiding—what the military did in our home was not a clash, but a massacre. Supreme Court of Nigeria affirmed this in their judgement of December 2023.
2. Proscription After the Fact: IPOB was legally banned on September 20, 2017, after the raids failed to eliminate my family members and my husband in particular. The government secured their Jankara proscription via an ex parte order—a secretive ruling without IPOB’s defense—labeling it a terrorist group under the Terrorism (Prevention) Act contrary to the procedure outlined in the same legislation and in complete violation of Section 36 of the Nigerian Constitution. The proscription itself is ilegal for not complying with the basic tenet of the law. This came on October 30, 2017, in the official gazette, weeks after the violence they claimed to curb.
3. Courts Said No: Multiple Nigerian courts ruled IPOB lawful, including a Federal High Court in Abuja, before this illegal proscription by Abubakar Malami and late Justice Kafarati in the same Abuja Divisionof the same Federal High Court. Rather than appeal the decision that ruled IPOB lawful, they went to another judge in the same Federal High Court building in Abuja to obtain an illegal proscription order againt IPOB without a shred of evidence. Till date nobody has published a shred of the so-called evidence upon which the government relied upon to proscribe IPOB. Most people don't know that December 2015, the DSS dropped all charges against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the magistrate court. In March 2017, Federal High Court in Abuja affirmed IPOB wasn’t unlawful. Rulings from Enugu High Court echoed this. The government ignored these, opting for a rushed ban when legal avenues failed.
4. ESN Red Herring: The Eastern Security Network (ESN), formed in December 2020 to counter Fulani herdsmen attacks, is often cited to smear IPOB. But IPOB’s proscription predates ESN by three years—making it irrelevant to the 2017 decision. Future actions can’t justify past rulings. This is elementary law.
5. The Real Plot: This began in October 2015 with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest—a campaign to crush a self determination voice through arrests, failed prosecutions, and finally, military force and a flimsy legal cover. An ex parte civil order can’t confer criminal liability in any just system, yet Nigeria did it anyway.
What is their endgame? Their endgame is to smear IPOB as terrorists to dodge accountability for state violence and sidestep the constitutional process they swore to uphold. The public deserves the truth: this isn’t about security—it’s about power and subjugation.

To all the mothers raising children/child alone, I dedicate this piece to you!
The stress and weariness you face by raising those children alone is inexplanable in a simpler term.
Some years ago, on a rainy afternoon, I looked out my window whilst the 8 months old Nnabuikem was asleep. I watched a mother bird (Pigeon) and her brood of chicks perched in a nest. As the rain poured down, the mother bird sheltered her chirping little chicks beneath her extended wings. Then the hail began to fall. Rather than tuck her head safely in the nest, the mother bird raised her head upward and took the pelts to protect her young. All the chicks made it safely through the storm!
The perils of single parenting! The responsibility of raising children alone is unrelenting, requiring a mum or dad to earn a living, cook, clean, supervise homework, take care of sick children, monitor and review their character and growth spiritually, mentally, socially, academically, biologically and so forth. Sometimes, you two might fall sick with no one to look after you as in my case.
The peril in the details is that beyond these day-to-day duties/tasks, you must figure out how to meet your own personal and spiritual needs.
Bearing in mind this is one of the toughest assignments on earth. Single parents, whether mothers or fathers, need our continued support and prayers.
To those who are taking the hard pelts on behalf of their children, be assured that there are better days coming.
The storm you’re in won’t last forever. A beautiful rainbow will soon appear. When the job has been completed and those little birds/bird has been raised, there will be sweet benefits for the parents who didn't fly away.
Your joy will come in/with the morning after you have 'wept' through the night.

I can’t believe it’s already the 19th of April!
We returned from Italy, and I fell deeper into the snares of the 'thorns' laced in our path to freedom as a people - #NdiIgbo and #Biafrans headed by Mazi #NnamdiKanu, who is still held illegally by the Nigerian government.
By 'thorns,' I mean injustice, subjugation, and the manipulations of the neo-colonialists as they continue to ensnare us in perpetual servitude.
My appreciation goes to the IPOB family, Italy, who showed us the love of a family.
I am still in awe of your love, kindness, and protection. This, I do not take for granted, and I pray for replenishment, good health, God’s protection, and understanding to deal with things in the right way.
As 'all roads lead to Rome'; as `all roads led to Ferrara', may we be blessed with the knowledge to discern the 'right' ways that will lead to our freedom as a people. To have hope and be rooted in the confidence that no matter where we find ourselves, we will always have our home to return to. Not just a physical location, it could be a spiritual location, it could be emotional, it could be your career location (ambition), and so on. Just make sure in any of the several paths you decide to take, it is the right one.
