@fishontherun02 So often the guys would get in trouble for crossing lines by exposing themselves or touching people because they just hadn't been taught not to.
@fishontherun02 There was an episode of the Canadian show Man Alive w/ a guy specializing in sex education for mentally handicapped ppl. He was said the idea that "Down Syndrome people are forever children" leaves girls vulnerable to sexual abuse & guys unaware of how to deal with urges (1/2)
@SypuWindows Sometimes Chinese people can't even understand each other because there are so many accents and dialects! I'm not saying this to make you discouraged, but to encourage you to try! Millions of people here are confused when communicating! Join us!
@damienics I went to Bairong Market a few months ago and found the signs are now in Chinese and Arabic. A couple years ago, when I lived in Beijing, they were Chinese and English.
@simongerman600 Saying "no," especially to older people, used to be super rude in China. A lot of people still won't do it. They strategically change the subject instead or use another method.
i got outed as trans to my grandmother and her response was “oh well that makes sense, your father used to have sex with men for heroin so it runs in your genes”
@jegaevi I watched the original 白色巨塔 dubbed in Chinese. It was so good!
I was excited when I found the Korean drama 大长今 dubbed in Chinese. But then the Chinese character voices were awful and I ended up watching it in Korean anyway.
@Mari55430517@turntineforwhat Often the women are older & have had bad experiences being passed over by local men. Plus, lots of the American white guys are scam artists who claim to be wealthy. If you're American, you can tell they're lying, but if you're not & English is your second language, it's harder.
@queerBengali Yes. I have a classmate whose husband took off when he found out their child was disabled. He said, "I wanted a son I could play football with."
Turns out the "embrace AI" commencement speeches weren't the worst of the year. In Taiwan, a uni president told students who have trouble with time management, mental health or physical health to "end yourselves quickly" b/c "the world doesn't need" them.

@fakehistoryhunt@rjfaber91@Loudwindow Yes, plus a lot of people in Asia don't produce any kind of scent from the sweat glands under their arms. A friend of mine from Shanghai was shocked the first time he played basketball with foreigners and they started sweating! He was like, "What's that?!?"
