A big shoutout to those companies that gave us our first trial, internships, first international gigs, first $1k,$2k,$3k and lots more.
You all are the real MVP!🙌🏾
As at last year, this would have been my response too. But give it another two years, you might change your mind.
If there’s a boys quarters or any separate space at home, I honestly think that’s your best option. Yes, there will be distractions, but that’s life. You set boundaries and make it work.
I graduated in 2023, and the idea of moving back home irritated me. I wanted my freedom and my own space. But as time passed, I realized that at this stage of my life, I actually need my family more than they need me.
Another thing people don’t think about is this: in a few years, most of us will be married. We’ll have wives, children, and a home of our own. If living with family is too much because of distractions, how are we going to cope with our own family? You won’t pack out because your kids are making noise or because your wife wants your attention. You’ll adjust, create boundaries, and learn to live with it.
It’s not even about money. Alhamdulillah, I can afford to live on my own in any state. That’s not the issue. I’ve just come to realize that not every stage of life requires you to rush out of your parents’ house. Sometimes, staying close to family is the wiser decision.
At the end of the day, family is all we’ve got. And before you know it, you’ll have your own home and wish you had spent a little more time with them.
My dad started complaining of stomach pain in October. After several tests, he was diagnosed with cancer of the head of the pancreas.
What followed exposed me to the painful reality of Nigeria's healthcare system. 🧵
