Had this syncopated chordal idea for eons that - despite all sorts of variations - still always sounded a *bit* too close to Radiohead ... so I recorded it and moved on.
Nice little video of my fence and some sunshine, though!

I thought you were so coooooool
I thought you. were. so. cool.
One mic and mostly one take for all the parts this morning, sounds of dogs snoring in the cracks, as usual.
Rainy Friday in SF.
I had lyrics and a happy "JackJohnson"-esque chorus for this but i think it works much better as a creepy bug on the security cam soundtrack instead.
@camouflybeats My phone ringtone has been "BangLiberation" by Funky Derrick for *decades* since stumbling on the vinyl sometime ~1999.
Dozens of phones. Same ringtone. Always.
I love these posts. It's heartwarming to know there are others who love turn of the Millennium French House.
6 Songs: A mix of styles, genres and production all recorded in the Fairview House.

Threaded together by themes of watching myself and those around me age, grow and settle.
Fender guitars, Bourgeois acoustic and various amps, pedals and mics.
A bit of the verse and pre-chorus from the most recent song I've written - 'Running Through Satellites'.
This was initially built around that quick Dm - A7 turnaround in to Bb - Gm.
Love the groove on this....
Well they can't all be winners. Loved the riff and groove, but all attempts to write a song around it felt wonky.
Recorded this to play around with amp miccing techniques. Drums are detuned hits from an old funk break i chopped up. Trusty old Fender P-Bass.
I still dig it..
Had this Cmaj7-Am + vocal line stuck in my head for eons, today I fleshed it out.
The second bit is F-D9 (x2) then F-Bb9 to turn it around...which is a bit unusual but I think it works!
Just guitar, bass, drums, vocals and a bit of piano to fill the gaps....
Loving this little tune i wrote.
Played 6 different acoustic guitar tracks, panned and EQ'd to not be cluttered. Vocals are doubled with a splash of verb and delay, extra side vocals on a word or two. Drums and bass to keep it moving. Hint of synth.

Was chipping away on a new song idea when OldMan FinlayDog ambled up to the couch to suggest I wrap it up.
Quick mix, quick video and a fitting song title to roll in to a relaxed San Francisco weekend where I'll flesh it out some more...
The Mellencamp excursion, full version. Challenged myself to write a fun song just verse + chorus - no middle 8 - with dynamics and arranging to keep it moving.
Is it in B? Is it in E? Is it about love, loss or lust? Does it even matter when the guitars are loud and wide?
Chorus with a bit of a tricky chord progression. G - Bm - Dm - Am - G - Bm - F / G - F - C. Wondered how David Lee Roth might have approached it....so that's what I did!
Somehow squeezed in 8 guitar tracks and even a cowbell, too....
Wrote and tracked a song today that's venturing a bit too close to Mellencamp (huge fan!) territory.
No EQ on anything yet, but pleased with how good the guitars sound with just an AKG and SM57 on the amp.
Looking forward to adding some Belgian Whistles while mixing.
