5th-generation Washingtonian, small business owner and pro-choice mother, representing #WA03 in Congress. @HouseBlueDogs co-chair. Working for Washington ๐ช๐ฒ๐ง
Local 612's Operating Engineers build the roads, bridges, and ports SW Washington runs on. These are the people who actually do the work, and I'm proud to have earned their endorsement. And I'll keep showing up to make sure there are good-paying union jobs for this generation and the next.
Big Pharma's dark money groups have spent heavily attacking me for fighting to bring down prescription costs. The people of Southwest Washington are the antidote to this kind of poisonous politics. I answer to them, not to whoever can buy the most ads.
Earlier this spring, faith leaders from across the Vancouver area gathered at St Andrew Church and shared their stories with me, along with their candor. As the daughter of an immigrant and a pastor, their dedication to faith and to our neighbors means a great deal to me. Thank you for hosting me, and for speaking plainly. I'm grateful for your compassion, and for the good you do across our community.
The Cowlitz Wahkiakum Central Labor Council and the Association of Western Pulp and Paper Workers (AWPPW) have come together to establish a fund to help workers and families impacted by the Nippon Dynawave implosion in Longview. It's EMS Week. Our firefighters and paramedics deserve equipment that's affordable and shows up on time. Instead they're waiting years and paying far more for vehicles like fire trucks. Corporations and politicians have worked together to write regulations that protect the big guys from real competition, and our first responders are paying the price. I passed an amendment in committee to start prying that system open. It's a first step, and I won't stop there.
John Braun says Washington voters 'get it wrong' on vote-by-mail. Tell that to the farmers, truckers, and nurses who can't take a day off work to stand in line. Braun is endorsed by Trump, who wants vote-by-mail gone. I'm fighting to make sure every working Washingtonian's vote still counts.
Fewer House seats are truly competitive each cycle, and the brinksmanship over redistricting is making it worse. Southwest Washington is one of the few places left where you can't win without listening to people who disagree with you. That's how it's supposed to work. I'm grateful my constituents sent me here to prove it still can.
Only about 1 in 10 Americans approve of the job Congress is doing, near a record low. They see corruption and members out of touch with what it takes to raise a family, run a business, or buy a home. And they're right to be frustrated. My fidelity is to my district. You don't have to be a partisan insider to be effective for your community.
Great turnout at the office opening this weekend! Now the real work starts: knocking doors, having hard conversations, and earning every vote across SW Washington. Grateful to everyone who showed up. See you out there!
Shutting down the government isn't a strategy. Nothing gets done on the cost of living, on wages, or on the problems people actually face while DC is at a standstill. The job is to solve problems, not create new ones.
Willapa Bay's oyster industry runs on a small number of working boats, and those boats need somewhere to get serviced. The South Bend Boat Shop is that place, and when it closed, I worked to secure the funding to get it open again. I stopped by last week to see how things were going. This is the kind of small, specific problem that doesn't make national news but decides whether a coastal economy survives.
Washingtonians are feeling the pain at the pump, and so are the critical businesses that move our economy. I visited Child Logistics' distribution center in Ridgefield with leaders from Chilton Logging and Signature Logistics to hear how volatile fuel prices are squeezing their operations and forcing tough decisions. The combination of the war in Iran and Washington State fuel regulations has distorted our energy markets, and those costs are landing on families across our region.
I know weโre not talking about the national debt during this news cycle, but itโs now equal in size to our entire economy. This is a bipartisan problem and it will require both parties to come together to fix it. Iโve introduced a bipartisan resolution calling for Congress to reduce the deficit to 3% of GDP. Itโs long past time to do something about this problem.
BTW, I have a bipartisan bill that bans Members of Congress from trading stocks, extends the lobbying ban for former members, and ends automatic Congressional pay raises. It's called the No Corruption in Government Act and you can read it here:

This is a no-brainer. But the bare minimum is releasing your financial disclosure forms, which, as a reminder John, yours are somehow six months late. When are those coming?
There should be a ban on congressional stock trading. Full stop.
It's wrong that this ban isn't already in place, and when I get to Congress I'll work to make sure it's passed.
Nothing to say, John?
Trump and his allies have spent months attacking how we vote here. Braun's silent because he needs DC money to win. I've proven I can work with the administration on areas we agree on and oppose them when they've got it wrong. John's just a one-way valve.
Mail-in voting is the gold standard for elections. It's safe, secure, and has broad bipartisan support in Washington. But that doesn't mean it can't be better. I'll work with anyone serious about stronger verification and more ballot drop boxes to strengthen the system we already trust.

Donald Trumpโs endorsement post is full of lies about my record. Anyone who knows this district knows Iโve fought to represent this communityโs independent voice in DC. Iโm proud of my work, my accomplishments and my dedication to effective honest governance.
John Braun needed this endorsement. And he'll be beholden to it. But voters in Southwest Washington deserve a representative who answers to them and won't just do what they're told by a national political machine.
President Trump claims the viral image that was posted on Truth was not a depiction of him as Jesus Christ but was him being depicted as a doctor.
Reporter: Did you post that picture of yourself depicted as Jesus Christ?
Trump: I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do with the Red Cross as a Red Cross worker there, which we support.
Thank you NECA IBEW for a tour of your badass training facility. It was great to hear how the next generation is getting prepared for jobs in the trades. @necanet@IBEW#ibew#neca
