Regarding Hideo Kojima’s access to Decima engine after moving PHYSINT to XBOX, Kojima is the one who elevated Sony’s Decima engine and pushed it to its limits with Death Stranding, far beyond Guerrilla ever did🚀
He can do the same with any new engine, just like he’s already doing it with OD, as shown in the screenshots and footage so far, and be it Unreal or even making a new one, like he made FOX Engine with Konami.
Kojima has always pushed every generation to its limits since PS1, so you don’t need to worry, because his creativity doesn’t hinge on Sony’s money or engines.
When he first collaborated with Sony on Death Stranding, he was and still is THE legendary Hideo Kojima who made Metal Gear Solid, and whose presence anywhere is big enough honor, clout and prestige.
He owes his success and high standards to himself and no one else🫡
How did PHYSINT miss deadlines when it only entered production phase last year?🚀
How was it over budget?
It’s not like Naughty Dog or many other PlayStation Studios produce anything of value this whole generation, and all their linear 60% cutscene / 40% stiff gameplay were way over budget with $300 to 400m or more.
Enough with this propaganda
Kojima elevated Sony as a brand due to his name and status alone, and the fact that he won 119 GOTY for Death Stranding, from many publications along with many other prestigious awards in other categories, including BAFTA, and now collaborating with A24 for a movie adaptation.
Death Stranding also had 20 million players, and collaborating with someone like Kojima is beyond just profits, but status and brand image.
Sony can only hide behind Rockstar and GTA6 for so long, and none of their fans or the general public will respect them or any developers are gonna wanna be acquired by them or collaborate with them knowing how unsafe they are to work with🎤
People saying "How can Sony cancel Kojima's project after funding Concord etc!!"
It is completely possible this is what Sony is saying internally:
"We massively fucked up. Concord was a disaster, Bungie is a disaster, Naughty Dog has lost it, Wolverine is terrible.. we are in the red and need to reboot our strategy. Kojima's game is way over budget, we can't continue on like this.
We'll terminate contracts w Naughty Dog once that game fails, we'll pull the plug on Bungie in a few months, but Kojima's project is nowhere near completion, so we need to cut funding now."
Obviously I don't know what is actually being said inside Sony.. but it's ridiculous to assume that Sony doesn't realize the folly of their recent strategies. They're never going to admit this publicly.. but there will be signs.
It's very possible that cutting Kojima's game is evidence that they are aware of their SEVERE strategic miscalculations in the past, and they're attempting to recover.
Not saying it's a good move.. just that they are probably trying to desperately stop the financial bleed.
As confirmed earlier through our official channels, in mid-June of this year, we unexpectedly received notice from PlayStation Studios that they would cancel the PHYSINT project. PHYSINT is an important project both to me personally and to KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS. Determined to keep the project alive, we have spent the last three months searching tirelessly for a new partner. In the course of seeking advice and pursuing negotiations with people across many fields, we found in XBOX a partner with whom we share a common vision for the future, and we have decided to team up with them once again. Please rest assured that development of PHYSINT, our genre-defining action-espionage title, is ongoing and will continue moving forward.
