Kelp forest across the coast of California host many different species. A lot of the species make noise to ward off predators, attract a mate or they they are simply just noisy eaters.

Why should we grow seaweed and marine algae in a lab? One reason is because we can use genetic tools to understand how environmental stress affects DNA mutations.
We are excited for our first international collaborative project! Our scientific team will be collecting eDNA to discover what species live in underwater cave systems
