My refction on "Why Tigray’s “Enlightened” Youth Have Not Brought Change: A Structural Diagnosis, Roadmap, and the Risks of Inaction"

General Tadesse is a paradox in Tigrayan politics: a career soldier thriving by playing enemies against each other with marble-faced silence. No bold eagle — just a survivor.I don’t endorse his moves, yet I wonder: can a crisis as deep as Tigray’s forge such enigmatic survivors?
Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to share that, my Dr. Assefa Leake and myself have published a pioneering article on:
From survivor to re-victimization: the tragedy of genocidal rape survivors of Tigray https://t.co/9BVBliHQX9
Dear colleagues,
I am pleased to share my latest reflection, titled “Ending the Specter of War: A Dialectical Path to Peacebuilding in the Horn of Africa”, Part one, which has just been published in The Reporter. https://t.co/OxInzkuXE4 via @The Reporter Ethiopia
Predation-Parasite-Resource triad
Similar to predation, parasitism represents a consumer-resource interaction. In many cases, the Host-Parasite relationship can be fatal, resulting in the death of either the parasite or the host to bring an end to this relentless dynamics.
When the moral foundation of society is distorted, ethical debates become implacably fatal, striving to extract as much good from evil as evil from good. This often results in the perversion of truth-telling as a vice and the glorification of cruelty and criminality as virtues.
Our desires are entangled in mimetic desire, where we yearn for what others desire.Desiring the desire of others.
— René Girard
Oh, Almighty God, grant us not our desires, but the wisdom to be less consumed by longing and more humble in our hearts.
-AGM's Payers.
All suffering emanates from craving, from attachment and from desire.
- Edgar Allan Poe
Human beings mimic each other's desires, leading to perpetual conflict over what we wish to possess.
Sinqi Libina, in collaboration with UNFPA, hosted a discussion in Mekelle, Tigray, on the vital role of boys and men in preventing GBV. The session tackled victim-blaming and called for men to take an active stand in ending violence against women.
Together, we can #EndGBV!
