If you have a few days off the week of New Year's Day or if you have out-of-town company and looking for something to do, come by the M-Hco Heritage Center & Museum in the Historic Henry County Courthouse. It will be open from 1-4 pm Tues-Fri, December 31, January 1, 2 and 3.

Land that makes up Hco was part of several different counties over the years. In 1732, it was part of Brunswick; in 1745, Lunenburg; in 1752, Halifax; and 1767, Pittsylvania. Hco was finally formed from Pittsylvania a 1776. In 1787, Franklin split and in 1791, Patrick. #History

In 1929 the Henry County Courthouse was remodeled. By the 1940s, matured vegetation had enveloped the courthouse as seen here.
