A little late, but excited to announce that our paper on lifespan in Shark Bay bottlenose dolphins was published a few weeks ago! We used 35 years of data on ~1000 dolphins to look at male and female mortality risk across their 50+ year lifespan. https://t.co/MpSKpjTDbf
How long do Shark Bay dolphins live? Do females outlive males? The answers and more are in our new paper - out today in @RSocPublishing#ProcB led by @MHFMcEntee ! https://t.co/ykxTYvR0VA
Male-male competition on its own doesn't explain mortality patterns in this species and we may have to look beyond broad mating system categories to understand the drivers of longevity in the wild.
A Living Wage is a DEI Issue. @Georgetown’s insufficient funding provides another barrier to keep Low-Income & First-Gen students from succeeding.
GU loves talking about DEI in admissions, but without the financial backing, it’s yet another empty promise.
We thought you should be able to visualize what
@Georgetown has offered us. You might have a hard time seeing it though!
Come to the General Membership Meeting on March 31 to talk about next steps.

On November 1st, we celebrated a special day for the Shark Bay— Bytfluke the dolphin turned 50 years old! She is a sponge forager, so we baked her a sponge cake in the shape of her fin and her favorite foraging implement, a sea sponge!
🚨To support staff harmed by Georgetown Redeploy, please read and sign this letter calling for the immediate suspension of the policy: https://t.co/SyqqoOHecL
All members of the GU community are encouraged to sign. #GeorgetownRedeploy
BREAKING: GAGE plans to enter arbitration proceedings with GU over alleged breach of contract. GAGE members say the university violated the terms of their union deal by deciding to no longer hold bargaining sessions with union leaders over fall graduate employee policies.
We've heard from an international PhD student in Germany that they've just received notice that they can't teach this semester. "It's illegal" is an unacceptably opaque explanation.
They were assigned their position in late Spring. Fall classes start in 2 days.

There is no protecting graduate workers unless we can hold the @Georgetown administration accountable when their policies violate our health, safety, and job security. A letter of agreement will uphold that commitment; anything short of that is a broken promise. #PutItInWriting
Since March, @RobertMGroves and @Georgetown have been changing policies that impact graduate work on an almost weekly basis, all without consulting @WeAreGAGE on mandatory subjects of bargaining.
This is a violation of our collective bargaining agreement, and has left graduate workers with immense uncertainty and insecurity. We deserve good faith bargaining and guaranteed protections before the semester starts in less than a week #OurRiskOurChoice
Lastly field assistant @Meredith__Mac will also be presenting her work on maternal investment. Can't wait to "see" you all there! (4/4)
