Sad news today hearing of the passing of Peter Mickle (RIP Pete) Liverpool busker. Always a highlight to bump into him in his regular spot - this was the last time we met during Eurovision ❤️
@BBCMOTD Letting Gary Lineker go could be one of the biggest own goals in the BBCs recent history. As much as I love MOTD I worry for its longer term future without Lineker in the key seat. You deserved a better ending than you got.
@PeterStefanovi2 The ‘private’ sector took over running most of countries care homes from local authorities has largely failed. Staff poorly supported / inadequately trained (there are exceptions) add in language difficulties when caring for people with dementia - current system can’t continue.
I look forward to Sheffield DocFest every year - but this year I’m collaborating with an NHS colleague and together we’ve partnered with Sheffield DocFest to provide easy access to Mental Health support at this year’s film festival.

@Lloyd_Cole Thanks for playing Sheffield and apologies for the weather (btw the sun is out today). First time I’ve had the privilege to see you perform - blown away - superb. Look forward to next time you’re up North 😉
@claireminikin@ToryWipeout It isn’t necessary about opting-out… a significant % of women working in the NHS were part-time; previously if you were part time you had to ‘opt-in’ to an NHS pension (it wasn’t mandatory).
@MindCharity@guardian NHS mental health services have been ‘hammered’ by the last Government which has also accelerated the loss of many experienced staff. In addition access to see a GP (which is still the main gateway into mental health support) has never been more difficult for people.
@MeltonBoy2 @thelefty52 That’s an amazing achievement Peter; there’s absolutely no reason to worry about being a burden on the state (quite the opposite). Doing it primarily because you ‘enjoy it’ is absolutely the right thing to do - which is the reason I’ve chosen to work past retirement.
40yrs on from the 1984 miners strike and the ‘battle’ for #Orgreave with no resolution or closure. Looking forward to Dan Gordon’s new film ‘Strike: An Uncivil War’ - which premieres this weekend as part of Sheffield #DocFest
During #DocFest week Sheffield is marking 40 years since one of the bloodiest and darkest days in police history. This historic spectacle takes place on Saturday 15 June 1pm - City Hall (same venue as DocFest’s opening night) more information in comments #Orgreave#Sheffield
The photograph was taken by John Harris - it shows Lesley Boulton from the ‘Sheffield Women Against Pit Closures’ group. She is holding only a camera. Fortunately as the truncheon wielding Police Officer took his swing, Lesley was pulled out of the way by someone behind her.

Attending Sheffield #DocFest all next week. Looking forward to the impressive menu of #MentalHealth and #Wellbeing related industry sessions; and meeting other filmmakers who share an interest in mental health. Please grab me if you want a natter; or just to say hello 😊
A humbling privilege and pleasure attending the ‘Baton of Hope’ #SuicidePrevention conference here in #Sheffield. Remarkable speakers sharing their stories; lived experience; and determination to change the conversation around #suicide
