NEW today, @CentreforMH report commissioned by @NHSConfed_MHN on the economic and social costs of mental ill health in England in 2022. The total of £300 billion is equivalent to twice the NHS budget that year. It’s a huge cost, mostly paid by people living with mental illness
In-patient suicide has significantly fallen since 2009 suggesting patient safety may have improved. The recent slowdown in the fall in rates highlights the need for renewed preventative efforts incl. greater focus on women, younger & older patients & those with affective disorder
