The U.S. Marshals Service confirms a Deputy U.S. Marshal was shot and killed today while serving an arrest warrant on a fugitive in Alexandria, La. The suspect is in custody. Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office and the FBI are investigating.

@HomeServeUSA is a garbage company and left a mother of two (one of which is- baby) without water in their home for going on 4 days now in 100 degree weather. They’ve sent 2 plumbers out for a pipe fissure and neither one fixed it. They left her with future appointments.

SERE training taught me a lesson I still carry a decade later.

Survival. Evasion. Resistance. Escape.

A valuable and unpleasant phase of Special Forces training.

Little food. Less sleep. Constant hands-on training.

You get immediate feedback in that environment.

Miss the mark and it becomes painfully obvious.

I fumbled one of my first interrogations.

After a volley of full-contact correction, the instructor locked eyes with me and dropped the coldest line:

“Respect costs you nothing.”

He turned around and left the interrogation room.

A decade later, I still think about that moment.

Whether you’re resisting an adversary or trying to influence an ally…
