All this and a paycheck?! the Michigan Army National guard conducted the Danish Flyver march in multiple locations on Friday 28Aug2026
The Danish Flyver March (Flyvermarchen) is a 20-kilometer (12.4 miles) military endurance ruck march originated by the Royal Danish Air Force.
Distance: 20 km (12.4 miles)
Weight Requirement: Minimum 10 kg (approx. 23 lbs) dry weight in the rucksack (water weight does not count).
Uniform: Standard military duty uniform and boots.
Location & Group: Must be completed on a military installation, facility, or training area with at least two participants and designated event leadership.
Time Limit: There is no official Danish time limit, though local organizers may set cutoffs.
The U.S. Army Human Resources Command has approved the Danish Flyver March medal and ribbon for wear on U.S. service uniforms, making it a popular foreign award. Large-scale events, such as a record-breaking turnout of nearly 1,300 participants hosted by the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, have recently drawn massive joint-force participation.
