As of right now, the new Siri cannot whisper. Hopefully, we will see that become a change in the future though. It would be useful if you’re trying to ask Siri something during the night and you don’t wanna wake up someone.
I know it’s a small thing, but man having an assist that can actually listen and reply to follow up questions is so nice to have over on iPhone.
This is only beta one of Siri AI, but it’s already looking so much better as an everyday assistant!
At first I wasn’t a fan of iOS 27 clear glass icons, but they’re kinda growing on me. I love how this looks!
Plus the wallpaper was generated with playground from a real photo I took. It doesn’t look half bad either 🤷🤷
🚨 A lot of people are confused by this image, so here’s what’s actually happening:
If you own an iPhone 15 Pro, any iPhone 16 or even the base iPhone 17, you’re still getting Apple Intelligence features and the new Siri AI.
Apple now has two on device AI models:
- AFM Core is a 3B parameter model that powers Apple Intelligence across supported devices.
- AFM Core Advanced is a 20B parameter model designed for Apple’s most powerful hardware with 12GB+ RAM, offering significantly more AI capability while still running on device.
Based on what Apple has officially shared so far, the features specifically tied to this more powerful model are Expressive Siri Voices and higher-accuracy Dictation. Other Apple Intelligence features will continue to work on the standard model unless Apple announces otherwise.
So most of the new features announced at WWDC aren’t just exclusive to iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone Air. Those devices simply get access to a larger and more capable on device AI model for a handful of advanced features.
@seb_finnamore@J_dev363 I had installed the second it became available, and was taken off the list in about 45 minutes. So maybe it is dependent on how soon you were able to install
New in iOS 27 beta 1 - Voice messages in IMessage now include a playback speed selector, meaning you could play back voice messages at up to 2x speeds!
@LeakerApple Really? I’ve heard from a few sources that it’s actually on the buggy side of things right now. I’m probably gonna hold off until public beta one.
@AJPreziosi At the moment, I do not believe so. Although Craig did mention that we would have higher generation limits when paying for iCloud+. So whatever that means.
Here’s my initial impressions of iOS 27 after about 2 hours of usage.
Firstly, everything feels incredibly smooth. No real lag or jidder and apps open and close exceptionally fast.
I have left the waitlist for Siri AI and so far its been a pretty good experience. I don’t have access to the cool voice control for Siri yet, but on screen awareness works excellently.
Also the animations are absolutely peak! Now I will mention, my devices are running a bit warm, though that is to be expected for a first beta, and battery life is draining rather fast on my iPhone 17 Pro Max.
I would expect those issues to resolve within a few days, however.
I’ve just noticed that in iOS 27, when zooming during a video in low light, the iPhone switches to different lenses like it’s supposed to, rather than cropping in on the main lens like it’s always done.
