The @MIGSInstitute hosted an event on June 22nd entitled “Repression in the Age of AI: A Discussion with Rushan Abbas,” featuring a discussion with CFU Executive Director @RushanAbbas moderated and organized by @kylecmatthews, Executive Director of MIGS and co-hosted by @opibooks. The discussion covered how transnational repression has evolved to be a greater challenge in the digital age and how tools such as artificial intelligence shape authoritarian influence beyond borders through surveillance, censorship, digital intimidation, and the silencing of dissent abroad. Rushan was able to connect with other allies and prominent advocates including @DMCBaxendale of @opibooks, @MehmetTohti, Executive Director of @uyghuradvocacy, and Sherap Therchin, Executive Director of @CanadaTibet.
