The Rwanda Noncommunicable Disease Alliance (RNCDA) warmly commends the Government of Rwanda through @RwandaHealth and @RwandaFDA for decisive regulatory action against unregulated alcohol, closing non-compliant production facilities, and recalling unsafe beverages.

Alcohol remains a major risk factor for NCDs, cancers, and chronic illnesses—with no safe level of consumption. Protecting our population, especially youth, requires sustained enforcement and evidence-based alcohol control policies.

Today, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva, on behalf of President Paul Kagame, virtually participated in the High-Level Meeting of African Heads of State, Governments and Partners on the Ebola Outbreak.

Highlighting Rwanda’s preparedness, the Prime Minister noted: “Rwanda remains Ebola-free thanks to deliberate investments in preparedness and resilient public health systems. We have strengthened surveillance, screening, laboratory capacity, emergency response mechanisms, and public awareness to safeguard public health.”

#Ebola can spread through sexual contact. The virus can remain in semen for upto 6 months after recovery, even when a person feels well.

Men who have recovered from Ebola should follow your health worker's guidance until the virus is no longer detectable.

Men are advised to:
1. Abstain from sex until cleared by the health worker
2. Use condoms consistently and correctly
