@MutantFairy_ If you think about it, every girlbop close wins not winning made Bulgaria this year possible. If Fuego or SloMo won, we would treat this performance like we did with Gjon's Tears coming after Arcade.
@EurovisionTom They were fast to point out how she looks like she's not singing. They were sold she was lipsyncing. I saw more "wow" from them from watching Belgium and Germany than watching Sweden.
@sohretbirsilah I think it's that the ebu and almost every country finally figured out the art of staging a song on tv. Even compared to 2021, this year's shots and concepts are better and more diverse. Even the nq's did really amazing.
I'm guessing Czechia and Bulgaria did incredibly well in the semi. The same way they out Latvia and the Netherlands last year in that running order before we discovered they were semi top 3 after all
@fromugewithlove I've been saying! The glowy embers in that first chorus had more impact in the NF when it was still white. Them making it more blue felt dull. We also can't feel as much energy at the end bc of those wideshots. Wide shots look good for other entries but not for this one!
@fromugewithlove My favorite song of the year but never saw it winning. Always a high scorer typa song. Also I wish they kept the original visuals during that eye catching moment in the first chorus. It being all blue now just made it feel less impactful

@YSLONIKA But everyone in my household knows almost the entire lyrics of this song? We don't listen to the radio much but we found this song one time and loved it. I know a lot of people do too. Though a weaker year, most deserved #1 this year to me
@edens_mfc I love it and I would defend Bird of Pray from its haters but that sf win was just residue political sympathy plus diaspora. As much as I love the song and staging it doesn't deserve and doesn't make sense to be #1
