Teachers make around 1,500 decisions a day.
In a 10 hour day thats 150 decisions an hour.
That’s a decision to make every 24 seconds.
Nearly 300,000 decisions in 39 weeks of teaching.
Such a mentally demanding job.
Too many holidays, yeah right!

🚨 NEW: The Government has announced changes to the national curriculum from September 2028:

- Citizenship will be compulsory in primary schools, including media literacy, how to spot disinformation, financial literacy, law, rights, democracy, Government and climate education
- Stronger writing assessment in Year 6
- New reading test in Year 8
- Arts GCSEs to be given equal status to humanities and languages
- Computer Science GCSE to be replaced with a Computing GCSE
- All schools to offer triple science GCSEs
- New core enrichment requirement - schools must give every pupil access to arts, sport, nature and adventure activities, civic participation, and life skills
- Removal of EBacc and reforms to Progress 8 - EBacc is the measure that pushed schools to focus on traditional academic GCSEs only, Progress 8 is the score that tracks how much pupils improve from primary to GCSEs
- New language qualification where pupils can build progress in stages, alongside GCSEs and A Levels
- New qualification in AI and Data Science for 16–18 year olds

Teachers are burning out and leaving, and I had never realised before being pregnant that maternity pay is a big reason. A profession mostly made up of women, but we get 4 weeks full pay and then... barely anything. No wonder so many are walking away, especially 30-39 year olds.
