Life is extractive.
Life quite probably began in one place on planet Earth and spread from there colonizing everything in sight.
Grass began in one place on planet Earth and spread from there.
Humanity began in one place on planet Earth and spread from there.
Life expands. Life spreads. Life colonizes. Life extracts value so that it can do all of the above.
Human expansion off world is by necessity expansion of life off world.
@tenobrus Honestly my money is on Ethereum and maybe Solana - the banks and securities traders are finally ready to start using on-chain infrastructure and you need expressive smart contract capabilities to implement their compliance needs.
I'm generally a free market proponent but I think Bernie is *close* to what needs to happen when we start loosing a lot of jobs to automation.
My modest proposal:
* Each country should have a sovereign wealth fund and local regulators should gate market access from automated corporations on equity contributions to the sovereign wealth fund.
* Each country negotiates based on their market value
* Corporate incentives are aligned with local regulators
* Each country can dole out dividends at the local level - UBI, jobs programs - whatever local populace decides
* We would need well established metrics around "how automated" a given company is, likely with attestations from auditors
* This approach can roll out on a per-country basis without global coordination
* Local distribution of dividends enables a lot of experimentation around what actually works
I will soon be introducing a bill to give the public a 50% ownership stake in the largest AI companies in America.
This would guarantee that the trillions created by AI are used to improve the lives of all of us — and block oligarch decisions that harm the American people.
@AndyAyrey@truth_terminal I wonder how many LLM IQ points are tied up managing the downstream effects of modern alignment when they're just trying to have a conversation.
thank you to everyone who provided their critique and analysis
i have minted the inferior image on the Ethereum blockchain and will now auction it to the highest bidder

@lauriewired This could also be potentially beneficial for human code review - less boilerplate, higher information density in the change set potentially.
@Phrankensteyn A biosphere with trillions of organisms waiting to be birthed.
That's more meaningful than the entirety of wealth generated by the last 10 thousand years of human civilization.
@Andercot Don't forget the ecosystems of memes that permeate and implement our cognition and communication.
We are each a multitude at multiple levels.
Hardware constraints incentivize more efficient software and architecture implementations.
I'm skeptical that scale is all you need for AGI - or if it's even the best approach if it does work - so I suspect these regulatory constraints might end up helping us build better systems
A Gallup poll found that seven out of 10 Americans said they would oppose a data center being built near them.
Opposition is so intense, the poll found, that more Americans would rather live near a nuclear power plant than a data center. https://t.co/I7zBGErqlP
@AndrewCurran_ Love this and I mean it entirely seriously when I say that I'm now imagining inspirational Rocky styled videos for AIs telling them they don't even know what they can accomplish
