Today in Chemistry class: Flame Test for Metal Ions. One of mine and my students favorite labs. These are just a few of their results. #CollegePrep#GoBears
Congratulations to the SHHS Marching Bear Band on a 1st Division-Superior rating at Region Marching Assessment! Now to prepare for State Marching Contest. #GoBears#PrideOfTheHillside
Busy week at the Hillside doing two labs this week! Chemistry-Integrated & Pre-AP Chemistry found the Density of Clay via Water Displacement while Physics graphed the velocity of a cart and calculated the acceleration of a sphere rolling down a ramp. #CollegePrep#GoBears
Felt good to be back in lab with my AP Chemistry students finding the Empirical Formula of an Iron Oxide. I think they enjoyed it as well! #CollegeReady#GoBears
@jaimieeb @KATVNews I understand your disagreement, but diff ethnicities have diff cultural norms that need to be addressed when teaching & disciplining. If those norms arenβt taken into account then you arenβt meeting the student where theyβre at. Itβs not abt diff consequences itβs abt approach.
@jaimieeb @KATVNews Glad that no offense was taken. Not sure what school that was at, but the training at my school was about treating students as individuals (regardless of gender, race, etc) & not to use a blanket approach to teaching/discipline so as to increase achievement & decrease referrals.
@jaimieeb @KATVNews We faced a wave of COVID last spring & no new restrictions were put in place. I doubt they will be again but I could be wrong. As for increased stress when we were having to social distance, etc. you are correct. It was a stressful time & still is to an extentβ¦even w/o protocols
@melinlorida@KATVNews Funding for schools depends on those taxes. Reducing or eliminating those taxes will adversely affect public education. If the money isnβt coming from taxes, they will either get the money from you some other way or schools will become even less funded.
@shagjohnson@KATVNews Teacher here. No, it is about the pay needing to be raised so that teachers donβt have to work two jobs to support their family. Also, no, we are not scared of students. However, you are correct that discipline is a problem. It should start at home but it doesnβt seem to anymore.
