• 21 grieving families.
• 21 empty desks.
• An entire country still wounded by tragedy — yet paralyzed by politics. #TxLege

Our economy depends on the industry along the ship channel. But we also live downwind of it.
It was great to join @EHCMA to talk crisis communications and building good relationships in peacetime. Thanks to @MJMudd for inviting me!
Practical assistance offered to the disadvantaged allows them to experience God’s love, and opens a path for them to enter into a lasting relationship with God. At the same time, it enables us to come into contact with the flesh of Christ by seeking to see and serve Him in our brothers and sisters (cf. Mt 25:31-46). In this way, our works of charity become a mutual encounter with the Lord who is present among us.
one of the most well-deserved pulitzers probably in its history. if you haven't read aaron's haunting, moving account by now then you need to right now.
HUGE congratulations to @FreshParsley who just won a Pulitzer for his first-person account in @TexasMonthly of being swept by the July 4th floods.

Update on our cute little rescue kitty! 🐱
He’s doing fantastic in his new forever home with a loving family who have named him Tahoe — because our @HCSO_D6Patrol deputies rescued him from deep inside the engine compartment of a Tahoe where he had climbed up and gotten stuck.
From the towel at the vet, to now living his best life — this little guy is thriving.
Huge thanks once again to our deputies for the compassionate work they do every day. Great job, team! 💙
@InvictumLupus@AnniseParker I’m straight, married, with wonderful adult children. She is speaking about individuality and bravery but people prefer to look on the surface and be unkind.
I'm proud to have the endorsement of Houston Mayor Pro Tem Martha Castex-Tatum. She's led District K with integrity, brought Houston's voice to national conversations on infrastructure and economic growth, and earned the respect of elected leaders across the country.
Her support reflects a shared belief that government should actually work for working people.
NEW: Pope Leo XIV says that the Catholic Church’s teaching on sexual ethics must be less prioritized over “greater, more important issues.”
“We tend to think that when the Church is talking about morality, that the only issue of morality is sexual. And in reality, I believe there are much greater, more important issues, such as justice, equality, freedom of men and women, freedom of religion, that would all take priority before that particular issue.”
Hope isn’t blind optimism — it arises in the face of uncertainty. If you look at our history, we’ve gone through some rough patches. But we tend to come out on the other side of them stronger than before.
