Had a conversation today with someone about some QB tech that I teach. It was a funny convo bc I teach things that no one taught me! I teach things I wish I was taught when I played, but that I developed based on principles I used when I was playing!
So the conversation went like this,:
Them: “Am I supposed to do something you are teaching me now that you didn’t do when playing but learned afterwards?”
Me: “Yes, if you believe in them based off the WHY & the results you have had & the evidence I can show you when I demonstrate it! Do you believe in it?”
Them: “Yes, otherwise I wouldn’t be doing it! But no one else understands it & thus, they don’t think I know what I’m doing!”
Me: “There are always 1st in life. Ppl that are willing to be the first one & to be out in front, even when others don’t understand it yet! Sometimes the student has to be the teacher & you have to show them it works & explain to them the WHY, IF they are willing to listen! Are you willing to be one of this in this regard?”
Them: No answer given!
It’s not easy to go against the grain… it’s not easy to believe when everyone else doubts… it’s not easy to venture off the beaten path to look for newer & better…
But innovation only comes by taking that chance & being convicted in it… thank goodness for all those that continually do this so we can continue to push for a better way!

📸 It was yet another great day to be a Bulldog. Our community came together to celebrate the 2025 @NCAADII National Champions with a parade through downtown Big Rapids.
The parade was presented by Explore Big Rapids.
It’s so funny to hear everyone talk about the risk of certain guys/positions in Top 10… everyone is a risk until they aren’t, until they become a pro-bowler or superstar & once they do no one cares where u drafted them!
95% of these guys have to get better than they were in college to be special… and no one knows which ones that will be, so they are all risks!
I’ve never understood anything but taking the best player available or the best at position of need based on the only metric you have: College tape!!
@kurt13warner@JDoe21444794 He definitely deserves a shot! We @agdiago know what he is about under the hood. Has a great football motor and mind! Apple didn’t fall far from the tree!
Comprehensive, data-driven evaluations and assessments of student-athletes are essential to delivering personalized support on and off the field.
No matter what resources are available, institutions that do not integrate data into their support initiatives, rely on conjecture rather than evidence, potentially compromising student-athlete development and success.

Scott Van Pelt and Rece Davis share an amazing story about Lou Holtz playing golf at Augusta National.
Holtz - a member at Augusta - would routinely lay up on the par-3 12th hole for up-and-down pars over Rae's Creek.
