“I don’t really like awards,” Michael said. “They’re competitive. That’s not what art should be about.”
“But you love the Bambi, right?” I said…
“Oh,” he said. “I love the Bambi. I love it, it’s so sweet.”

From A Real-Life Fairy Tale: Michael Jackson and Me by Talitha Linehan
Before leaving Istanbul, Michael apparently left one last little souvenir behind: he wrote “Love, Michael” and signed his name on the bathroom wall of his hotel room. ❤️
He left Turkey on September 25. It would be his first and last concert here.
And I was 8 years old and missed the whole thing. I’m still bitter. 😭
A little Michael Jackson in Turkey thread 🇹🇷❤️
In 1992, a Michael Jackson fan in Turkey reportedly attempted suicide because she couldn’t get a ticket to his concert in İzmir. She survived.
No, this wasn’t me. But it could’ve been. 😂
And then there was the hotel room. 😂
According to Frank Cascio, Michael suddenly got a glimmer in his eye and said, “Let’s trash the hotel room.”
Their idea of “trashing” it was moving the couches into weird positions, hanging the paintings crooked and scattering rose petals all over the floor. Michael eventually threw a fork into a painting. 😭
The next day, Bill Bray was furious and threatened to send Frank and Eddie home.
In Rodney Allen‘s 1999 confession, he admits that Victor Guiterrez, Evan Chandler, and his brother Ray fabricated the allegations against Michael. He himself was also involved (which was confirmed in the 2005 trial).
"Forgive Me Michael."
And when Michael finally came to Turkey for a concert in ‘93 — for the first and last time — I was still too young to go to a stadium concert. I’m still not over it. 😭😭😭
Born right at the end of the Thriller era, but I was too little to remember much of Bad. Dangerous was the era I actually experienced — and that’s when I fell in love with Michael. ❤️
Which Michael Jackson era were you born and which era is your favorite?
Tell us in the comments: Jackson 5, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, History, or This Is It?
As he accepted the E.T. Grammy, Jackson said, “Of all the awards I’ve gotten, I’m most proud of this one, honestly. Because I think children are a great inspiration, and this album is not for children; it’s for everyone.”
A former Universal executive said that he showed ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ to Michael Jackson and Richard Pryor before the film’s release in 1982: ‘They were both crying.’ https://t.co/pAF8kkwJol
“And no matter all the stuff he went through, how he was treated, what things were said about him, he never stopped treating people with kindness. He never stopped believing in and wanting to look for the good in people… even though he was broken, his heart still stayed the same…” - Jaafar about Michael 🤍
