Next speech in this session: “Zakat - bridging faith and practice”, by Nasir Boakye-Boateng
Speaking about sacrifice, Nasir Boakye-Boateng states, “The concept of sacrifice is universal, yet the Islamic perspective on Zakāt is exemplary. The Promised Messiah (as) said that Zakāt comes from the word "tazkiyah," meaning purification. When you calculate your wealth honestly and pay Zakāt at the prescribed rate, you purify your wealth–separating the lawful from the unlawful.”

This is the Ahmadiyya Mosque in Haifa, Israel, which has been hosting important interfaith events in the aftermath of 7 October.
These pictures show a recent gathering in which Ahmadiyya leaders in Haifa reached out to their Jewish and Muslim neighbours through text messages and social media promotions.
600 local Jews and Arabs came together in this event – a number that exceeded expectations, given the prevailing conditions.
To get a taste of how the guests felt, here is what one Jewish guest said:
“In my view, this gathering serves as a significant testament that demonstrates to the Islamic community, the Jewish community, and the global community at large that we can engage in meaningful dialogue that brings us together. We are not adversaries; we are allies. Together, we achieve success.”
These kind of events are rays of hope. We need more like them.
