@NavalInstitute The Yoast Guard already demonstrated why this is unnecessary during peace time; why is there a specific need for a militarized Coast Guard right now?
@EExperssion @J_McGrody @XE0SIS @USNavy You are the only one talking about sex here. I was covering the need to discuss gay rights and the movement which got us here. You are the one who somehow saw that as sexual.
@EExperssion @J_McGrody @XE0SIS @USNavy By your own words, you don't know what you exactly oppose. What is the "this" you oppose, and why do you make it soley relevant to queer people?
@EExperssion @J_McGrody @XE0SIS @USNavy If you only believe this issue matters only with queer people, then the self-described Anti-Gay Rights Movement is always open. Just lead with that next time.
@EExperssion @J_McGrody @XE0SIS @USNavy I must ask you, why do you believe 'protecting the kids' only apply to standing againsed queer people? Do the constant public celebrations of religious holidays inherently put kids in danger as they may associate with religious officials?
@EExperssion @J_McGrody @XE0SIS @USNavy That is true for any and every group. By that logic, there should be no displays/coverage of religion as certain groups view relations with children as more acceptable.
@EExperssion @J_McGrody @XE0SIS @USNavy The danger is that same logic was used to fight againsed anti-discrimination laws (see "Save Our Children, Inc) because the open discussion of queerness made it more socially acceptable.
@EExperssion @J_McGrody @XE0SIS @USNavy The issue is that the gov't was involved and that discrimination occurs outside of federal control. Many locations had the power to deny service or employment on grounds that someone is/could be queer.
We cant close our eyes and think what things could be when reality differs.
@EExperssion @J_McGrody @XE0SIS @USNavy Haha, I guess a baby shower would count!
Still, the need to understand the nation's historic relation to queer people is crucial to discuss to prevent a backslide on rights, which is always present. It may be boring, but it is important work.
@EExperssion @J_McGrody @XE0SIS @USNavy Milk's legacy clearly contradicts that. He and the Gay Rights movement had to fight for the right to work for the federal government, marry, and exist in public/private spaces.
