One @GreyCourtPE@GreyCourtTweets pupil below joined the triathlon club a couple of years ago and this weekend represents London at the National Champs. Just shows what is possible in trying new things and working hard. Good look Euan R, go well 🙌👊
For the last 6 weeks I have tried booking a @LBRUT venue to coach a bunch of motivated 10-14 year old triathletes, in conjunction with another region. A great opportunity for everyone involved. Still no luck when I know the venue isn’t being used then. It’s like pulling teeth 🤬
Having not rained for a whopping 48hrs, we took to the jumps for the first time this term.
Always a fun session which is the most important thing but also so good for confidence levels, bike handling skills and extra KMs in the legs getting there!
In the least surprising news ever, the rearranged date of this Friday has been postponed again. Even though it is a decision I agree with everyone shouldn’t be left with having to rearrange diaries yet again because of original incompetence.
The pandemic crippled many kids and clubs so it just has to be a priority to resist any cancellation/postponement unless it’s dangerous. Both these races didn’t even come close to that and it’s then up to teachers, coaches, clubs to pick up the pieces…(7)
Delighted to have received a @LCowanBursary which has helped fund some portable lights so we can continue training in the depths of an English winter 🙌
Thank you ever so much 🙏
** SOMEONE NEEDS TO TALK ABOUT ORGANISERS OF JUNIOR RACES **
On the back of the unanimously condemned decision by @ActivityAndyDW and @LdnYouthGames to cancel the XC due to supposedly wet/muddy conditions that hardly materialised, we have another cancellation this morning…(1)
@minkywilmer @ActivityAndyDW @LdnYouthGames 100% and same here. Lose a shoe🟰tape it, won’t happen again. Freeze 🟰learn, wear something else next time. Some people talk about kids being soft these days but it is our generation making decisions that don’t help them whatsoever. You’d think they’d know better

In both races you are telling kids that it’s ok to quit or not try something if things aren’t perfect. In an effort to probably be inclusive and try to pander to the minority you are not only driving kids away from the/any sport but also weaken any resilience they might have…(6)
Parents, please - leave the coaching/advice during the game to the coaches. Just offer encouragement and not your own advice to your kid, let alone others.
Interesting thread and why I am very wary of big general group sessions for middle distance athletes. Everyone is different so make sure your needs are catered for when looking at running clubs and you are not just chucked in with the masses.
Well...one aspect is it is the event where the largest spread of different types of physiology can be successful.
This leads to the ultimate coaching challenge because one model will not fit most of your group.
To get to that 1:43-1:41 range, you are really in the space of optimizing the individual.
And there isn't a blue print for that, just principles and asking good questions with curiosity to better understand the individual.
In supporting Autism Awareness Month & Neurodiversity Week,we presented to a school assembly alongside Sam Holness and his coach/father,Tony.They gave an inspirational talk about using autism as a superpower to achieve great things in triathlon through hard work and consistency.
