@mpgentileusa@SBUnfurled Agree - need a proven scorer at the D1 level. Of these projected starters, Grahovac leads the way having averaged 18 minutes & 4.5 points per game playing D1 last year. Blackwell is next having averaged 12 minutes & 2.6 points per game playing D1 last year.
@RedRejection32 Simmons and Mitchell were the 3rd & 4th best scorers in the A10 last season. Both had higher FG% than Charles, and Simmons made 3s at 10% higher than Charles. I liked Charles' spark and overall play, but certainly we need some experienced D1 players vs 10 D2 players. We are D1.
@RedRejection32 Waiting for some commits who have actually played D1 basketball last year - maybe at a P5 team. Mitchell was an excellent find last season.
@POTUSVaccaro Disappointing. A 60 year old D2 coach is not a forward thinking decision. We did a
D2 coach before - dismal results. And look at his 9 years at Canisius - 2 winning seasons and only 1 conference record above .500 in the lower-tier Mac league. Baffling!
@SaveSBU@Bona_Fanatic I heard from several sources days before Schmidt coached his last game that he was being relieved of his duties by Woj and Barretta, and MacDonald was already earmarked for the job. The Colonel was not one of my sources - several impactful NIL contributors and univ insiders.
@bonabeliever @ColNicholson One year left on his contract, no one was saying to extend his contract indefinitely. Kicking to the curb a guy who took us to the NCAA tournament 3 times in 10 years is disheartening. We had one NCAA appearance in the previous 34 years.
@GranditsScott@RedRejection32 Probably because we made the tournament once from 1978 until 2012. That's 34 years! Having a coach that made Bonas relevant again, by making the tournament 3 times in a 10 year period, was a source of pride for one of the smallest schools in D1.
@bradymarriott11@mpgentileusa@SBUnfurled At the DII level, after a dismal D1 run. And Canisius is in a league well below A10. Never finished higher than 4th and no NIT or NCAA appearances.
