As we processed through the streets of Providence yesterday, we offered a public witness to the hope we have in Christ.
In the Eucharist, Jesus gathers people from every walk of life into one family. As Bishop Bruce reflected during the Holy Hour, when we allow Jesus to carry us, we begin to notice everyone else He is carrying, too. We discover brothers and sisters beside us, united by His mercy and His love.
May our hearts always remain open to His embrace, and may we become signs of that same love for everyone we encounter.
Jesus, carry us.

The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has long drawn the Church into a deeper contemplation of Christ’s love—made especially known through the prayers and visions of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in the late 17th century.
But what she received was not simply for her time. It is a reminder for ours: that the Heart of Jesus remains open, offering mercy, healing, and a love that does not grow weary.
Today, this devotion continues to invite us to rest in that love—and to share it with the world.

In prayer, we are drawn beyond what we can fully comprehend—into the heart of God’s love.
Bishop Bruce reminds us that each of us has a part to play in this moment of consecration: to pray, to unite ourselves with the Church, and to trust in the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Join us as the Bishops of the United States consecrate our nation.

Today, the Catholic Bishops of the United States are consecrating our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of our country.
But what does it mean to be consecrated?
To consecrate means to set apart for God—to intentionally entrust ourselves, our families, our communities, and our nation to the love, protection, and guidance of Jesus Christ. It is an act of surrender, trust, and a commitment to follow Him more closely.
The Sacred Heart reminds us of Christ's infinite love and mercy. Through this consecration, we place our hope in Him and ask Him to heal, renew, and guide our nation.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. ❤️

Today, on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Church turns her gaze to the great mystery at the heart of our faith: Jesus Christ truly present in the Most Holy Eucharist.
May our hearts be renewed in wonder, gratitude, and devotion to the gift of Christ’s abiding presence among us.
O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine.

Yesterday evening, hundreds of faithful from across the Diocese of Providence gathered at Aldrich Mansion for a beautiful evening of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament with Bishop Bruce Lewandowski.
As the sun set over Narragansett Bay, the faithful entered into prayer, with moments of silence, music, and reflection.
In a reflection delivered in both English and Spanish, Bishop Bruce invited the faithful into a meditation on the nearness of Christ.
“Jesus is that close to us right now, so close like our hearts beating inside of us. So close like the air we breathe.”
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this beautiful evening.

Yesterday evening, the Diocese of Providence gathered at Our Lady of The Rosary Church in Providence for the annual Blue Mass, offering prayers of gratitude for the police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and first responders who faithfully serve our communities each day.
Dozens of first responders from across Rhode Island filled the pews as Bishop Bruce Lewandowski reflected on the vocation of those who place themselves in harm’s way for the sake of others.
“Every time you show up for a stranger on the worst day of their life, every time you stand as a shield between the innocent and the guilty … you reflect something of Our Lord and His protective love, care, and concern,” Bishop Bruce said during his homily.
The Mass was also an opportunity for the Church and the community to express heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifices first responders and their families make each day.
Please continue to keep all police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and first responders in your prayers. May God strengthen them, protect them, and keep them always in His care.

"Young people, young families, young parents, I think they're finding in the church not just human connection, but a fulfillment of a spiritual desire," said the Rev. Michael Najim.

Today marks one year since the Installation of Bishop Bruce A. Lewandowski, as the 10th Bishop of Providence.
In his homily at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Bishop Bruce reflected on the meaning of doors and thresholds—places of encounter, welcome, and sending forth. He reminded us that through Baptism, we are called into the life of Christ and into communion with one another as members of God’s family.
He also offered a simple but powerful invitation: “I’ll be knocking on your doors… because Christ needs you. His Church needs you.”
As we mark this anniversary, we give thanks for Bishop Bruce’s pastoral leadership and renewed call to become a Church that goes forth—meeting people where they are, opening doors of faith, and inviting all into the life of Christ.

The Diocese of Providence joyfully congratulates our seminarians, Steven Diel and Jesus Reynoso, who were admitted to the Rite of Candidacy yesterday at @SJSBoston during a Mass celebrated by Bishop Bruce Lewandowski.
We also extend our congratulations to their brother seminarians who received Candidacy: Daniel Morrissey (Diocese of Worcester), Samuel Kalu and Kennedy Ogujiuba (Archdiocese of Boston). Please keep all of these men in your prayers as they continue their journey toward the priesthood.
In his homily, Bishop Lewandowski challenged the entire seminary community to reflect deeply on what it means to be a shepherd after the heart of Christ. Drawing from the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd, he contrasted self-serving leadership with the self-giving love Christ models—one that is lived not from a distance, but “shoulder to shoulder” with God’s people. He reminded the seminarians that their vocation is not simply about becoming priests, but about becoming a priest who is shaped after the very heart of Christ.
He described the priestly vocation as one that must be shaped in daily fidelity to Christ’s own way of shepherding: not from above, but from within the lived experience of the people they serve.
As these men take this important step toward the priesthood, may they continue to grow into faithful, generous shepherds who serve God’s people with humility, courage, and love.
Please keep them in your prayers.
