I wish there was a way to send them to live in Gaza under Hamas rule. After a while they'll learn the language & engage with Gazans, who according to polls overwhelmingly reject Hamas. They'll gradually recognize the brutal and authoritarian nature of the militia they adore from afar because it was successful in murdering Israelis.
Three years after October 7, Israel has demonstrated its military prowess and national resilience, but faces growing international isolation.
In this week’s #koplowcolumn, @mkoplow writes that Israel must rethink what it means to “win together,” at home and abroad. https://t.co/hWkYaR0EsA
"Former Israeli officials have been saying Jewish terrorism is a stain on Israel morally. It is incredibly damaging to Israel's reputation and the cost is going to fall on all Israelis. It puts Israel itself at risk because it's a serious threat to the rule of law." - @mkoplow
On this third anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attack, we remember the 1,200 Israelis who were killed and the 250 Israelis who were abducted, and give strength to the countless Israelis whose lives were upended. Israelis mobilized to defend their country in an unprecedented manner, and their resilience is a testament to Israel's strength and fortitude.
Israel continues to face enormous challenges, from recovering from October 7, to translating military successes into enduring strategic successes, to restoring Israel's standing in the world. Not least of those challenges is figuring out how to deal with the enduring conflict with the Palestinians and maintain Israel as a secure Jewish democracy.
We will continue to do our part to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship and support effective American foreign policy around resolving the conflict, and we stand in solidarity with Israelis on this solemn day.
Hamas’ October 7 attack catalyzed a tectonic shift that upended an already fragile regional order.
Three years later, the aftershocks are still being felt.

Israel has been consumed for weeks with stories about whether Netanyahu was warned ahead of time about October 7. The focus should instead be on the current warnings coming from all quarters, which are going unheeded and will lead to serious problems https://t.co/haM7RvqfYK
Yesterday, 47 senators voted to advance an effort requiring the State Dept. to report on human rights abuses and the deaths of U.S. citizens in the West Bank.
Our explainer breaks down the resolution, which failed to pass, and the context behind it: https://t.co/ESeRYVfE1g
Israel cannot hope to maintain its close relationship with the U.S. if American public opinion continues to turn against it. To get out of this quicksand, Israeli leaders need to correct course, writes @mkoplow in this week's #KoplowColumn. https://t.co/QXZk8if0A4
The question about partnering with an Arab party is not just about the upcoming election. It is the central long-term question facing Israelis concerned with preserving democracy and state institutions, and will come up over and over again for decades https://t.co/aecZ2SLGse
My long overdue reunion with @NeriZilber and @ShiraEfron where we talk Israeli election, UK sanctions, take the long (and positive!) view of the past three years https://t.co/XreRsANNeZ
Israel’s surprise at new international measures targeting settlements raises questions about whether its government is reckoning with the consequences of its policies, writes @mkoplow in this week's #KoplowColumn. https://t.co/LdU8T3HPr8
Btw if these sanctions are extended to the 11 other countries who co signed what the UK is doing it is serious damage to the United States Security Coordinator which was a 12 country mission
It would knock out
UK
Canada
Poland
Denmark
Poland
Notably @GovMikeHuckabee mentioned USSC as his chosen tool to work with Israel and the PA on terrorist violence against Palestinians
Israelis’ view of their actions and perceptions of how Israel is seen are woefully outdated.
In this #KoplowColumn, @mkoplow argues that until that changes, the deterioration in Israel’s standing in the U.S. will only continue. https://t.co/J6EeZnCjwx
Ben Gvir's latest disgusting rant has been widely shared and rightly condemned by many across the globe -- just not by the Israeli government of which he is a member. At the outset of this government, Netanyahu insisted that he -- not the extremists he elevated and brought to his government -- would be holding the steering wheel. Nearing its conclusion, it is clearer than ever that Ben Gvir and Smotrich have been the navigators, leading Israel to nowhere but greater isolation.
The top two tiers of Likud are almost entirely extreme nationalist radicals, social media trolls, supporters of an authoritarian executive without any checks, or people who will literally support anything Bibi or his family request. This is the party that Bibi has made /END
The Likud primary exit polls are just that, exit polls, so take with a grain of salt, but if they are accurate, they reflect what all close Israel watchers know, which is that the narrative of everything being a Smotrich-Ben Gvir problem is nonsense 1/
Or they are Kahanist imports, such as Almog Cohen who was a member of Ben Gvir's party until a couple of months ago and is now 4th on the Likud list according to exit polls. People like to bemoan the end of the Begin-Meridor-Levy Likud, but this is well beyond that 4/
