The Cubs have traded SP Kris Bubic, DH Mike Ogden, & cash to the Dodgers for a pair of 21 year olds: SS George Lombard Jr. and 3B Cam Collier.

Recent waiver claims will take their spots: Former Cubs Rule 5 pick RP Drey Jameson (LAA) and MLB Pro Legend CF Matt Den Dekker (ATL).

Collier, the 17th overall pick in 2022 and OSA's #94 prospect, will report to the high minors.

"We'll need to figure out a defensive home for him, but we believe in the bat and his ability to contribute in 2027," said GM Jabs.

At the end of the last homestand they lost their ASG-hopeful SS Rafael Luna to the IL, but also added ASG-lock SP Hunter Greene via trade.

They proceeded to lose 8 straight, dropping their "outside chance" playoff odds to near 0%.

"We appreciate Lewis' contributions, but ultimately we need more offense from that position," GM Jabs said. "The Cubs are 1st in the league in defensive efficiency but 11th in runs scored. We need more balance."

Lewis posted a .181/.287/.315 line with a .270 wOBA in 76 games.

The Chicago Cubs have traded 3B Chad Lewis to the Cleveland Guardians for 3B Greg Jones and minors SP Travis Rice, who is recovering from a season-ending injury.

The Cubs will retain 100% of Lewis' contract and Jones is slated to join the MLB roster in his place.
