@PeterUKaden@DiamondLightSou We can operate with LHe or LN2, usually LN2 is good enough to slow radiation damage. The cryostat can be operated on I18 and I20 at DLS. The XES energy resolution at I18 depends on several factors, so the team at I18 are in a better position to answer that.
Last week, we welcomed the first external users (University of Glasgow) of our cryostat for actinide samples. The team conducted HERFD using I18 and the Active Materials Lab at Diamond Light Source @DiamondLightSou

Enjoying the fantastic early career Research in Progress meeting @UoMSciEng organised by @EMG_minsoc and @RSC_Radiochem . Thanks to everyone for great talks, posters and lively discussions 👏
And congratulations to @MSHuzan_PhD for his poster prize at the @DiamondLightSou Magnetism Group meeting! That makes 3 for 3 Baker Group winners this month! 🏆
🏅And 1st place goes to Myron Huzan for their poster on 'Quantifying the influence of 3d-4s mixing on linearly coordinated metal ions.'
Congratulations, Myron. 👏
Congratulations to PhD student Alan Qi, who recently won a poster prize at the @DiamondLightSou Spectroscopy Group meeting for his work on probing non-Aufbau divalent lanthanides with RXES!
🌐This week we welcomed over 120 scientists from across our international community for our Spectroscopy Group User Meeting 2024.
🤝Thank you to everyone who joined us to showcase the recent scientific results and the latest developments across the Spectroscopy Group.
🏅And 1st place goes to Myron Huzan for their poster on 'Quantifying the influence of 3d-4s mixing on linearly coordinated metal ions.'
Congratulations, Myron. 👏
Excellent week of beamtime at @DiamondLightSou, putting our new active materials cryostat well and truly to the test! ☢️💎❄️
Some tremendous results from the upgraded I20-Scanning RIXS spectrometer. Big thanks to Shu, Alan, @Johnseedo, @MSHuzan_PhD and @nalcock42! #actinideRIXS
