Research proves physical movement helps students engage in, investigate and understand #maths concepts. @SPSC_Adelaide we’ve been getting #active with #algebra in Year 4! Boys have been using their bodies as tools for learning to help solve team challenges. @JGelsthorpe

Working on key oral language and text comprehension skills I’ve been reading aloud a @AndyGbooks classic 📖 Boys engaged in vigorous debate with convincing arguments for their choices. Never had we had such a contentious issue in the classroom before! 😂 @SPSC_Adelaide

Learning IPA requires #perseverance and #teamwork. Our #THRASS word inquiry challenge today was to try and learn some animal names 🐱🦆🐼🦁🐊 The boys made some great connections between IPA and English. @SPSC_Adelaide @jasmineftaylor1 @JGelsthorpe

And it’s 🥇 to Usain Potato & Jamaica in the first 🤸‍♂️ event of the Potato Commonwealth Games @SPSC_Adelaide! We are taking the opportunity to use the Games to enrich our geography, maths & science units as well as character strengths & wellbeing. @JGelsthorpe @BDStorer

Today we investigated fractional parts of geometric shapes and used pattern blocks to solve a variety of puzzles. Boys had to use their #mathematicalmindsets to find multiple solutions and share their explanations. @joboaler @JGelsthorpe @jasmineftaylor1

It was interesting to observe how a math task unintentionally became fine motor practice. The boys #growthmindsets were challenged!We often underestimate how skills like dexterity can have an impact on all areas of the curriculum. @SPSC_Adelaide @JGelsthorpe
