I teach middle school science and English, which makes poetry about the natural world my favorite! My classroom is an ecosystem of wonder and creativity.
@LaurynC135 for Thankful Thursday I want to give a shout out to Ms. Cottman who is a feel-good leader in our community, always makes me laugh, and her kind words light our spirits! @BamCounselors#BAMFAM2020#BAMConnected
“Tuneful Tuesday” = Koko Taylor's "I'm a Woman" ...'everything's gon' be alright' As a child of the '70s I loved Soul Train so in the words of the late great Don Cornelius 'peace, love, and soul!'

During our space review quizizz this week, I polled students 'which character would you most like to meet: Spock, Yoda, Darth Vader, E.T., or Princess Nausicaä'. Most picked Yoda. "Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is." Who would you pick? E.T. for me!
During Peace Corps, my Rutooro friends taught me "mpole mpole" meaning 'slowly' or 'with patience we will get there'. So five words: kwehayo nk'azaara akifu mpole hamu -- roughly "acting with all of one's strength, we will get there together" @PJonesTeach
Day 4 of #5Cs challenge @BAM_MS_Official - I'm reading "How We Got to Now" as part of Fauquier County's Community Reads. Using critical thinking to see how Johnson's ideas converge with my own. #BAMConnected
My daughter and I are puzzling through together to turn this 'stuff' into a raised garden bed. Collaboration Tuesday - getting to know power tools and failing forward! @BAM_MS_Official#BAMConnected
So proud of these girls for helping our new student feel right at home in the lab on day 1! She's already CLIMBing as she adds solution to chem compounds. #BAMyr3@BAM_MS_Official
As we talk about the importance of failing and learning from our mistakes and trying again, one of my 6th graders made a connection to this speech by Denzel Washington. Very inspirational! https://t.co/ZaBve6frz4 @BAM_MS_Official#BAMyr3@OfficiaIDenzeI
Learning for future contributors @BAM_MS_Official? Encourage kids to be risk takers..."Jump on in, the water is great!" We might not be able to see what's below the surface but it's worth the adventure. First, 6th grade scientists, let's talk about ocean tides... #BAMSummerJAM
"How do we, as facilitators of learning, cultivate a community of future contributors?" Introduce literature from around the world (start with Ireland!). Nurture their unique perspectives to see what others may not. #BAMSummerJAM@BAM_MS_Official#DublinIconWalk
