Don Garber's Burner

I shill for single-entity soccer, and love my local McFranchise.

@Holidayneeder @Tom_Hindle_ Name the number of MLS clubs granted waivers for stadium size, bonus points for answering WHY.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@Holidayneeder @Tom_Hindle_ Nope, Luton Town was smallest at slightly over 10k, and they were forced in 8 figure remodel, and they’re building a larger stadium rn.

I’m fine with 10k, 5k for D1 is fucking laughable in a country of our size. You must be fucking joining.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@Holidayneeder @Tom_Hindle_ So you don’t want standards similar to European countries with 1/10th the number of 1m+ cities, got it.

Waivers are granted assuming stadium plans are in flight.

You want blanket 5k waivers when MLS has always met, and sure, waiver for San Jose can apply: you MUST be building.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@BruneElections Now overlay with population density

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@PaulSpacey Yet another failed English “coach and player” coming to America thinking because you have an accent, we should give a fuck about your sub par crdentials.

Teams like Seattle, Vancouver, and Portland have a rivalry dating back 50 years you fucking retard.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@Holidayneeder @Tom_Hindle_ So yes, I support stadium size considerations of a similar size to all of those.

I'd even be open to dropping that down to 10k.... which still doesn't get a majority of USLC clubs to D1 requirements.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@JradRabel LOL, I'm not saying Texas ever goes blue, but this is a hilarious map, the idea that Texas would be blue and GA, NC, PA, OH, MI, WI, NV, and AZ would all go red is pure lunacy.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@JMoneyMan__ @Dhaneye MLS has had more different winners than Serie A and EPL combined in the last 10 years.

I prefer that model to "EPL's top clubs can make rules preventing and real competition for titles", I just want MLS to spend more and improve the quality on the field.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@JMoneyMan__ @Dhaneye Gotcha, so it matters if a team can get promoted and relegated, but not if the same 2-3 clubs win the title year in, year out?

I like leagues that are competitive, that any club can win, you like 2-3 horse races, and pretend it's about P/R when it's really just quality.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@Jhhuynh42 @MilesPerHoward Which is my point. The only way this story makes sense if is they're earning/sitting on USD but Canadian citizens.

Otherwise, it makes way more sense to live in deep NE suburbs and commute to Boston than fly in and out of https://t.co/M9FpZ3zHis.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@cibifi @paulswaney3 Repeat after me: If you're charging a guest a cleaning fee, you should not expect your guests to... wait for it now.... do fucking cleaning chores.

It is not the world's responsibility to ensure you get a return on your investment property.

We're comparing hotels vs. Airbnbs.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@JMoneyMan__ @Dhaneye That was a cute pivot because the truth hit a little hard, huh?

Pro/Rel will do nothing to make American soccer closer to EPL in the near term.

At some point you'll have to admit that it's all about glory hunting for you, otherwise you'd watch League 1, it's not "complacent".

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@B0Keifus @Technovangelist @Airbnb LOL. I own 2 remodeled dental offices to ensure I was compliant with zoning when Airbnb governance shifted.

Your 2nd home is not your home, that's your investment property, and no, you shouldn't expect people to clean b/c you want to avoid paying cleaners like a real host.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@TBerlaga They're not even opening their homes. Most of the loudest voices are the post COVID hustle bros that consumed far too much content about passive income and believe because they put their live savings down 5% on a house for STR, they're owed a return on investment.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@cityguru003 I think Arsenal supporters will point to their 20 years of pain as they rebuilt financially after going deep into debt to build a stadium... during that era you snatch their best players because you were cooking the books while they did things the right way.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@JMoneyMan__ @Dhaneye That's what the actual local supporters of the clubs you enjoy watching call "glory hunting".

You can't bitch and moan about Pro/Rel if you don't realize the ultimate goal is that supporters follow local clubs not just latch on to the best.

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@Citizzy Uhhh... the game wasn't at the Emirates....?

[Don Garber's Burner @MLSHQBurner]

@JayTC53 Are the people in the LG situation platforming pedo protectors?

Asking for a friend.
