@BiankaB12 Why not employ “both-and” thinking, rather than “either-or”? Are not Orwell and Huxley both correct, but in different ways? (cf. Jesus teaching. John 8:31-38.)
@PrasVector@realMaalouf I’m generalizing, of course. Good and bad exisit in every traditional religion and secular outlook. A religion or worldview that condones the murder of “infidels” is not the same as a religion that condones killing in self-defense. “People are complicated” will always be true.
One of my longest-standing arguments is that we are not living in Orwell’s 1984, where truth is centrally suppressed and censored by force (that’s former communist societies, modern-day China, Russia, North Korea).
We are living in something much closer to Huxley’s Brave New World.
The truth is not hidden - it is almost always readily available. But it is buried beneath an industrial quantity of noise: propaganda, outrage, half-truths, conspiracy theories, influencer theatre, algorithmic rage bait and an endless stream of content designed not to inform us, but to keep us emotionally stimulated.
The modern information system does not need to censor the truth when it can simply drown it in noise.
A fact no longer has to be disproven - it only has to be surrounded by a hundred competing claims, stripped of context and nuance, turned into partisan ammunition and pushed into the same feed as celebrity gossip, memes and 15 second videos engineered to deliver the fastest possible dopamine hit. By the time the truth reaches us, it appears as just another piece of content competing for our attention.
That is the more sophisticated form of control: not preventing people from knowing, but exhausting their capacity to care.
Orwell feared a world in which people would be deprived of information. Huxley feared a world in which they would be given so much distraction, stimulation and triviality that they would lose the desire to seek it.
The defining struggle of our age is therefore not simply between truth and censorship, but between truth and indifference.
(Statism, Islam, Marxism, Egotism, etc.) into the inevitable triumph of Good. I admit this is my religious faith. Practically, we must remain alert, pray, fast, and give where it is reasonable to do so. Education is not the responsibility of the State, but of the family and those hired to teach and train their children as they see fit.
I made a watercolor in 1987 of youngsters running out after their middle school day was over. One of them leaped and asked, “What’s a Book?” I titled the painting “2087.” Is the problem actually the ability to read, or the choice many make simply NOT to read? In other words, people read for quick amusement at best because of the many distractions people allow themselves to fall into. Fewer people read critically because they have become lizard-brained. “What’s a Book?” is the unfolding tragedy of our time.
@AzatAlsalim So we know there are bad courts that now court bad values. Refund the money! Europe should be for people willing to assimilate, no one else.
@JohnCleese Thank you. The Islamic mind turns society upside down. People who think like Islamists act like Islamists. It is not a good mix in a culture built up over centuries, bolstered by reason, faith, goodness, and wisdom.
Para quienes sufren de amnesia: hace apenas 6 meses, el régimen islámico de Irán masacró a más de 40.000 personas en solo 2 días, por el único "crimen" de protestar por la libertad.
Derroquen la República Islámica.
@realMaalouf If this cult cannot be conquered, it should be driven back where it began and contained with barbed wire. Liberate the innocent children from their monster overseers.
The middle "class" will expand, and the extremes will decrease when the plain Rent of Land is collected by the community rather than taxes that fall on Labor and Capital goods. Henry George understood, but the privileged kept his reform proposal off the table. The middle has been decreasing because what is written here is not generally understood, or thought to be just another "socialist" scheme. The economics of taxation should be studied carefully. The plain Rent of Land should be collected by the community that has created it. Taxation as we know it should be opposed.
@BrotherRasheed It may be shocking to hear that God may care less who wins a soccer match! Remember, dear sports fans: "I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD. YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME."
@GadSaad The people alone must think because the people alone can act.--Henry George. If the government does not protect the values, traditions, and sovereignty of the nation, how can the people be so long accustomed to the rule of law?
Exposed: The Subversive “European Qur’an” Project
The same Brussels that just hosted the Taliban, is spending €10 million peddling fake history to convince Europeans that Islam has “always belonged in Europe.”
RAYMOND IBRAHIM. Look it up.
The EU leadership is engaged in historical REVISIONISM regarding Islam to fit their globalist vision of multiculturalism, which opposes traditional sovereign nation states and the Judeo-Christian value system on which Western civilization is built. They think Islam can be secularized and tamed without it conquering Europe.
