Senior Staff Appreciation Day
@KyleSmigla on why he picked
Mrs. Lopano “During my Junior and Senior year she made class fun keeping the class involved from day 1. She always helped me gain confidence in her Spanish class”
@BCSDBrunswickHS@MLopano
Our teachers love to learn and bring innovative opportunities to our students! Mrs. Lopano spent her summer in Mexico completing an immersion program focused on medical terminology and culture, staying with a host family and attending language school. She's now ready to teach our new Advanced Spanish for the Medical Profession course this fall. She is another example of BCSD teachers going the extra mile to provide challenging curriculum and meaningful experiences to our students.
This course is intended for students with a foundational knowledge of the Spanish language. It is designed to enhance their medical vocabulary, communication skills in Spanish, and cultural competency in healthcare settings. Students will engage in immersive, real-world scenarios, including patient interviews, medical history intake, and emergency response dialogues. Emphasis will be placed on accurate medical terminology, culturally sensitive communication, and professional interactions with Spanish-speaking patients and colleagues. Through role playing, case studies, and interactive exercises, students will refine their abilities to communicate effectively and compassionately in a healthcare setting.
