Once again, the UFC landscape has shifted.

I, for one, am glad Islam ducked Prates.
I'm going to #UFC336, and Prates vs. Morales is a way more exciting fight.
This actually works out much better for the Canadian fans, if you ask me.
That being said, it's lame that Islam turned down Prates. UFC should have stripped him.
Today marks one year since Ciryl Gane poked Tom Aspinall in the eye, ending the UFC 321 main event in a No Contest, the only time in UFC history a title fight has ended in a No Contest (not including Jones vs. DC 2).
The heavyweight division has been an absolute mess since then.
🚨 Islam Makhachev explains why he turned down the Carlos Prates fight in January
"They offered me a fight with Prates, who recently lost to [Ian Garry], someone I beat. If I beat him, Morales would already be next in line, who's not fighting and waiting for [a title shot].
Just let them fight and we will figure out who's the real challenger."
