President Bihi has chaired the final meeting of the Council of Ministers after the election.

The 134th and final meeting of the Council of Ministers under President Muse Bihi Abdi's government was convened today. The meeting, which took place in Hargeisa, marked the conclusion of President Bihi's tenure following the recent election where Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillaahi Cirro and Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi were declared the winners.

The council reviewed the current state of affairs in Somaliland, discussing progress in security, economic development, and social welfare. The ministers acknowledged the challenges faced in recent years, particularly in maintaining peace and stability in regions.

A significant part of the agenda was dedicated to discussing the credibility of the elections conducted under President Bihi's government. The ministers highlighted the efforts to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process, which has been a cornerstone of Somaliland's democratic practice. Somaliland opposition leader Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi “Cirro” of the Waddani Party has won the country’s presidential election, defeating incumbent President Muse Bihi Abdi, according to Horn Diplomat. He is set to become the sixth president of Somaliland, following the announcement by the National Electoral Commission on Tuesday.

The presidential election, held on November 13, received commendations from international partners who praised the National Electoral Commission (NEC) “for conducting a transparent voter registration and candidate nomination process.”

Ethiopia also commended Somaliland’s National Electoral Commission (NEC) for conducting a free and fair election, stating that the “process reflects the maturity of Somaliland’s governance and democratic system.”
