What I love about this is that people who aren’t necessarily horror fans are going to the theater because of word of mouth and LOVING it! We horror fans already knew this, but horror truly is one of the best genres because there are no formulas to follow and you can go anywhere with it. When writers and directors are given the opportunity to do original films with great scripts people will show up.
there were parts where the literal hair on the back of my neck stood up because the way the lead actress moves/speaks at times is just so unnerving. it’s a weird dichotomy because you also can’t help but feel bad for Nikki since her agency for most of the film is stripped. 10/10
the use of shadows in OBSESSION is not only a great example of “less is more” but also perfectly aligns with the film’s themes, they serve as a literal visual metaphor for the dark and unseen consequences of playing god with another person’s agency
‘OBSESSION’ is one of the only films in the 21st century to earn 30% more in its second weekend than its opening weekend.
The film earned $22.4M this weekend.
The part nobody knows about this video is that Zendaya is the reason James Charles had a career in the first place.
In 2016, Zendaya was already a CoverGirl ambassador. She posted an Instagram challenge asking followers to recreate her mascara packaging look. James Charles, a 17-year-old high school kid with a YouTube channel, submitted an entry. Zendaya liked his photo, included him in her roundup, and CoverGirl noticed. They signed him as their first-ever male spokesperson. The entire CoverBoy moment that made James Charles famous started because Zendaya saw his Instagram post and gave him the co-sign.
Then CoverGirl put them together for a 10-minute makeup challenge video. The professional who built his entire brand on tutorials spent the whole time narrating technique. Zendaya barely talked, just applied a full face at twice his speed. She'd taught herself makeup by watching YouTube tutorials as a kid and had been doing her own red carpet looks since she was a teenager.
She did her own makeup for the 2022 Oscars. The Vanity Fair afterparty too, with a completely different look. A self-taught actress doing her own glam at the Academy Awards while the professional who owes his career to her was filming apology videos.
Zendaya went from $140,000 across three seasons of a Disney Channel show to $10 million per film. $1 million per episode of Euphoria. Two Emmys. $40 million net worth. $3.9 billion in combined Spider-Man box office. She was 19 years old in that challenge video.
She created the professional, beat him at his own craft on camera, then went on to build one of the biggest careers in Hollywood. And makeup was the footnote.
a lot harder to brainwash people when everyone has access to all the footage and news of you slaughtering innocent children like animals you rotten fuck
