The Urban League @ULSTL was proud to sponsor the St. Louis American’s Salute to Young Leaders Awards Program once again! We were also proud to see one of our own, Tyler Joy, Director of the Women’s Business Center, receive an award this year. She serves over 400 businesses each year with a variety of programs, seminars and consultants to enhance their knowledge and skills. Congratulations to all of the honorees!

Melanie Johnson of KSDK News did an amazing job as MC once again alongside Raven Whitener who runs the St. Louis American Foundation and Michael Holmes who chairs its Board.

The @ULSTL Urban League, RBC and our community partners came together for “A Weekend of Service” to support families and neighborhoods still recovering from the May 2025 tornado.

Together, we rehabbed homes, demolished buildings, helped remove debris, clear lots, connect residents to jobs and resources, distributed essential supplies, and deliver food and resources to homes supporting elderly and disabled residents in tornado-damaged neighborhoods.

Almost 2,000 people attended the Save Our Sons + Sisters Hiring & Resource Fair, and thousands of families were served during our largest community distribution ever! Over $1,000,000 ONE MILLION DOLLARS in resources were infused into the community during this effort!

Thank you to every partner, donor, supporter, and resident who stood with us throughout the weekend.

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD TO ANYONE STILL IN NEED OF SUPPORT! One year after the devastating 2025 tornado, the @ulstl Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis and our incredible community partners are coming together for what will be our largest distribution effort ever as part of “One Year Later: A Weekend of Service.”

This Saturday, May 16, from 12–3 PM at the Urban League Regional Headquarters, we will provide food, toiletries, and essential items to thousands of families still recovering and rebuilding. This will be a drive-thru only distribution at 1408 N. Kingshighway Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63113.

It’s always a pleasure to support @RitterPrepHS Cardinal Ritter College Prep! This year’s Gala was another huge success raising almost $800,000 for these amazing students. It’s also an honor meet and present the McMillan Scholarship Recipients at CRCP every year. Former school President, Leon Henderson, and I worked on creating an endowed Scholarship Fund there many years ago. We had three recipients this year who also received laptops. Helping our young people succeed is always a blessing!

The CBTU and the Circle of Excellence Scholarship Foundation recently presented the Urban League @ULSTL with Dr. King and Lifetime Achievement Awards respectively. We are incredibly grateful for this recognition.

These awards were dedicated to our 300 hard working staff and thousands of volunteers who serve over 200,000 clients each and every year! A very special thanks to Andreal Hoosman, Lew Moye, Jay Ozier and both of their respective committees at both organizations for honoring the work of the Urban League.

We will strive harder than ever in 2026 and beyond to be worthy of these recognitions and do even more for St. Louis! Our best days are ahead of us!

It was an honor for the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis @ULSTL to once again partner with @SaintLouisU for the Annual MLK Memorial Tribute, as we reflected on the life, legacy, and enduring call to action of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
I am grateful for the powerful panel discussion, “The Black Church and the Urgency of Now,” featuring Dr. Katrina Thompson Moore and Rev. Anthony L. Riley, whose insights underscored the importance of history, faith, and accountability in addressing today’s challenges.

We were also blessed to have a performance by Gospel Icon Vanessa Bell Armstrong who brought down the house along with St. Louis favorite the Coleman Hughes Project.

We were also proud to recognize outstanding leaders and organizations whose service reflects Dr. King’s legacy:
Knieba Jones-Johnson, Donna Bess Myers, For the Culture STL, Action St. Louis, Areeb Hasan, and our Lifetime Achievement honorees, Marian “Bo” Mehan, Herman Lessard, William Siedhoff and Ron Himes. Our Civic Leadership Award honorees, the Regional Business Council and Terrence Rogers, exemplify the impact of sustained civic engagement.
