Borno Government Declares Crackdown on Illegal Properties, Begins Land Documentation Drive.
The Borno State Government has launched a comprehensive Land Documentation and Sensitization Outreach aimed at encouraging landholders to obtain valid Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) and other essential land documents.
The exercise, undertaken by the Borno Geographic Information Service (@BornoGis) kicked off at BOTP 72 layout along Pompomari Bypass, Maiduguri, as part of efforts to ensure order, transparency, and compliance with land regulations across the state.
Speaking during the flag-off, the Executive Secretary of BOGIS, Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe (@EngrBababe) described the initiative as a crucial step toward sanitizing the land sector and safeguarding the rights of genuine landholders.
“This outreach is not just about sensitization; it is about giving people the right information and access to perfect their property documents,” Engr. Bababe said.
While stressing that proper land documentation remains crucial in curbing fraudulent practices and guaranteeing lasting land security, Bababe further warned that the government will no longer tolerate illegal structures or unverified land titles, as such properties risk outright revocation.
Bababe further urged Borno residents to ensure that their land titles are genuine and bear their correct names, explaining that many still hold unto documents bearing different names which often lead to disputes and loss of property.
“In many cases, the original allottees sold their plots to Mr. A, who later sold to Mr. B, then to Mr. C. Mr. C passed away, and the property is now in the hands of his children who also sold to someone far,” Engr. Bababe explained. “But legally, the land still belongs to the original allottee because the subsequent transactions were never perfected through proper documentation.”
Commenting on the recent Airport Buffer Zone demolition, Engr. Bababe clarified that the affected structures were found to have encroached on government land, many of which were illegally acquired from land vendors. However, he said government will identify and mark the houses within the zone for proper categorization.
According to him, properties situated on Bulama Adam’s land will be properly subdivided and documented, while those found on government land will attract penalties before being regularized. However, structures encroaching on airport land will be removed.
The General Manager of the Borno State Urban Planning and Development Board (BUPDB), Liman Gana Mustapha, reaffirmed the Board’s readiness to strictly enforce urban development laws, stressing that illegal constructions along drainages, road corridors, and buffer zones will no longer be condoned. He advised residents to always obtain proper development permits before embarking on any construction.
Musa Bulama who gave an overview of the project, explained that the exercise will be extended to various communities across the state to ensure wider participation.
The Ward Head of the area, Bulama Ali Umar, described the outreach as a commendable initiative and pledged to mobilize and encourage his subjects to participate in the exercise.
Ambassador Maina Mustapha and other residents of the area, while appreciating the opportunity, appealed for more flexible payment options to ease the process of securing land titles.

May Allah take us all to Madinah in the best of state and make it our final abode. May we be resurrected with the Prophet ﷺ, drink from his hands, and enter into Jannah by Allah's mercy.
“Jawahirul Ma’ani” was written over 200 years ago, yet no follower of the Tijjaniyya Order has ever gone into a church, a marketplace, a police station, an army barracks, or any public space to plant a bomb claiming to draw that ideology from Jawahirul Ma’ani.
But in less than 50 years of your books spreading in this country, thousands of innocent people have been killed in the name of Jihad and Tawhid. And today, because of the ideology propagated by your sect, the false and orchestrated narrative that there is a “CHRISTIAN GENOCIDE” in Nigeria is being promoted by certain individuals.
If not for your sect (Izalah), who else is labeling fellow Muslims as infidels? Who else is sowing deeper division among the Muslim Ummah in this country? There is clear audiovisual evidence of your own cleric, Ja’far, openly calling on his followers to purchase weapons and prepare to strike. But who exactly are they planning to strike? Other Muslims or government forces? And let us not forget that Muhammed Yusuf, the founder of Boko Haram in Nigeria, was his student and trainee, no one knew him better.
Look! It is easy to read and translate a text from any language. But true scholarship lies not in mere translation, it is in understanding the deeper meaning of that text. And this is precisely where the problem begins.

The action that the Libyan government took upon the illegal immigrants is harsh, but we only blame our people. But one single advice to the Libyan people: they should know that history always repeats itself and the tables can turn around.
Bandits and Boko Haram militants have continued to kill thousands of innocent Muslims across Nigeria, yet some Western media outlets twist the narrative to suggest Muslims are targeting Christians. In recent weeks, bandits attacked mosques in Katsina State,

“ @AlikoDangote he’s not an individual, he’s an institution, and he’s a leading light in Nigeria’s economic parliament. And how we treat this gentleman will determine how outsiders will judge us. If he had invested $10 billion in Microsoft, in Amazon, or in Google, he probably might be worth $70 to $80 billion by now.
“But he opted to invest in his country, and we owe it to future generations to jealously protect, promote, preserve, and protect the interests of this great Nigeria.
“I wish to call for caution, retrospection, and a deeper sense of patriotism from both labour and the organised private sector in defining and improving the relationship between labour and industry in the interest of maintaining our steadily improving economic fortunes.
“It’s not about holding the whole nation to ransom because of a minor labour dispute.
“Nigeria is greater than PENGASSAN. Nigeria is greater than each and every one of us. I’m not coming to you as a partisan.”
