@Statsational@ScoringChanges@FieldsSzn69@Brett_A_Taylor Pushed/forced off a base you are established on is different than physically affecting your ability to successfully take & maintain a base that is freely yours to take. That seems to be the sticking point here.
@ScoringChanges@Brett_A_Taylor 2 different questions 1) Can a fielder be allowed to affect a runner's free path to 2nd base on a walk causing them to lose control of their ability to maintain contact with the base and be called out (objective question) 2) Did this happen in this instance? (subjective question)
@ScoringChanges@Statsational@FieldsSzn69@Brett_A_Taylor That isn't the question. The question is can a fielder with the ball physically affect a baserunner's free path from 1st base to 2nd base on a walk causing them to touch, yet not maintain, contact with the base and therefore be called out.
@ScoringChanges@Brett_A_Taylor What if you nudged/shoved/tripped the runner as they were approaching 2nd base and they stumble over the bag and you then tag them. Are they out?
Hey @balkwhisperer
This is from a game in the Northwest League a couple of days ago. Pitcher was initially called for a balk, but then the batting team manager argued with the umpire who then huddled with his crew and reversed the call. Thoughts?
@balkwhisperer So if a runner makes a jab step towards 2B, does that count? At the :04 mark the throw to 2B is made and R1 is standing at 1B.
Also, thanks for the reply!
@balkwhisperer I honestly don't know what the offense's argument was. The discussion was on the broadcast but I didn't want to post a long video and you couldn't read the coach's lips due to the umpire being in the way.
@Cooper19874@HereREGOagain@JomboyMedia Yup, some people will chew your head off for not knowing every rule variation at every level. I’m just here for the conversation.
