Horrific scenes in North Belfast tonight as a man was reportedly caught attempting to behead another man in the middle of the street.

It is deeply disturbing to watch, and it raises difficult questions about public safety and how such attacks can be stopped before more lives are put at risk.

Nobody should be injured or killed by anyone whether a citizen, visitor, or immigrant while simply going about their life.

Violence against innocent people is unacceptable regardless of who commits it.

What is especially heartbreaking is when someone carries a knife with the intention of harming others.

Incidents like these leave communities shocked, frightened, and grieving.

Watching people film the scene rather than intervene can also be difficult to process.

At the same time, an attacker armed with a knife can pose an extreme danger to bystanders, and many people may fear becoming victims themselves.

My thoughts are with the victim and everyone affected by this tragic incident.
