My discussion on the latest US attack on the ICC, on the rule of law more broadly, and its efforts to buttress Israel regime impunity. With @RaniaKhalek and

In a rare moment of justice at the UN General Assembly today, Germany lost its bid for a UN Security Council seat. Germany’s scandalous support for genocide in Palestine and aggression against Iran, and its repression of human rights defenders inside Germany, were all on display as the body handed Germany this unprecedented loss. Even former German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who presided over the election as current UNGA President, could not save Germany from this well-deserved humiliation. Germany’s money can no longer erase its responsibility for genocides in Namibia, Europe, and Palestine.

Despite efforts by New Yorkers across the state to defend NY's climate law, Governor Hochul is poised to significantly weaken it.

Op-ed against new upstate nuclear co-written by NY Renews, on the grounds that it's destructive to Native land and communities. As NY left has argued before, they say new nuclear is *only needed for data centers,* to disingenuously stir up more opposition.
While decrying new data center projects on environmental grounds - and nuclear plants as insufficient job creators - these authors completely neglect to mention another major demand for baseload power upstate: the Micron semiconductor facility.

💢 NEW: Israeli double strike kills photojournalist and 3 paramedics — 7 paramedics killed in less than a day in southern Lebanon
An Israeli drone strike on Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, a town in the Sour district of southern Lebanon, killed photojournalist and rescue worker Ahmad Hariri and fellow paramedics Ali Ghassani and Hussein Reda Kassir after they were struck while heading to the site of an earlier attack in the village, according to local reports and footage from the scene.
The death toll from the double strike later rose to six. The victims included three paramedics, two Syrian nationals including a young girl, and Ali Alameh, a local barber who had stayed behind to offer free haircuts to residents refusing to evacuate.
Earlier the same night, four paramedics from the Islamic Health Committee, affiliated with Hezbollah, were killed in separate Israeli airstrikes targeting two of the organization’s centers in Hanouiyeh, also in the Sour district.
The Lebanese Press Photographers’ Syndicate mourned Hariri, saying he was killed “while carrying out his professional and humanitarian duty.”
Lebanon’s Health Ministry condemned the strikes, noting they came less than two days after the World Health Assembly passed a resolution calling for the protection of medical personnel in Lebanon. Journalist @cbonneauimages also mourned her friend and colleague Ahmad Hariri in a post linked below.
Explain it to me like I'm 5:
Cuba has significant natural wealth -- sugar, tobacco, nickel.
American corporations extracted that wealth while ordinary Cubans lived in poverty.
Cubans revolute and kick the U.S. out.
The U.S. places a 67-year embargo on them, forcing them into deeper poverty. Then tightens it with a specific embargo on oil.
Now threatens military action if Cuba doesn't let us back in "to help the Cuban people."
If we want to help them, why don't we start by lifting the embargo?

Update: I got into the Israel real estate event at Park East Synagogue.
Inside I saw at least one table advertising properties in the West Bank, including Kfar Eldad and Karnei Shomron.
dear palestinian cinema admirers, i recently discovered a google spreadsheet compiling the list of palestinian cinema index on letterboxd. The spreadsheet has downloadable links to over 700 docs and films.
