After President Sata’s passing, we were paraded and formally informed of his death. Shortly after, we were assigned and introduced to the new Acting President as part of his security detail. From that day until 2015, when he handed over power, we proudly secured and protected him across Zambia.
He was a cool bally. Sharp, time conscious, and always focused. An astute man, so much so that he once woke up, jumped into his car, and almost drove off to a meeting, forgetting that he was now Acting Head of State and his movements needed more scrutiny under executive protection.
A man who enjoyed a good bottle of brandy.
May your soul rest in peace, Dr Guy Scott.
It was truly a pleasure serving you.
HONOURING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF DR. GUY LINDSAY SCOTT (1944 – 2026)
On behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Washington, D.C., and the Zambian community in the United States, we are deeply saddened by the passing of our former Vice President and Acting President, Dr. Guy Lindsay Scott, at the age of 82.

My dissertation committee said "Your work is beyond the calibre of what we expect from a PhD student. It’s at the level of a professor."
I was stunned.
Now, the faculty has voted to make me one of them.
